SNIP

According to some authors, in 1940 when Prime Minister Winston Churchill learned through radio intercepts that the Germans planned to bomb the city of Coventry, Churchill is believed to have disallowed advanced scrambling of British fighters because it might tip off the Germans that the Allies had broken their codes. Churchill's alleged behavior in this instance was strategic - more concerned about winning the war than winning any immediate battle. . . . Ask yourself: How would Churchill vote on Tuesday?

The old Coventry story has been pretty thoroughly debunked.

1) Churchill was a subject, not a citizen.

2) Churchill rode the petticoats of his anti-Irish father to power. Yes he was a tyrant, but he was "our" tyrant.

Our use f election law to highlight the power that gun rights groups have should not be compared to the mythical actions of a dictator.

With Churchill it mostly depended on what political mood he was in that year.

This year he might have been a pro 2A Republican and next year he would be standing next to Pelosi condemning civilian ownership of weapons of any kind beyond a rock or a stick. It just depends on whether he thought it was good for his career right then.

Everybody loves to show his foresight in condemning Chamberlain for appeasing Hitler, but he was the classic boy who cried wolf. Almost every time he got on a podium he was saying that Britain needed to invade some country or other and how just about everybody was out to get Britain and couldn't be dealt with peacefully. It should be no surprise that he condemned Hitler, he condemned everybody else.

Even a blind man can find the light if he fumbles around systematically.
