Are you kidding me?

Ok, that wouldn't be a useful post. Illinois is @#%^@$%& for gun rights. ESPECIALLY Chicago. And, for that 'wisdom' it has serious voilent crime problems...

I could turn down ANY job there.

You could just check the map. I wouldn't even consider it. I don't care how much it pays.

Illinois does not allow bearing of arms in any way, shape or form outside of ones own personal property, business or domicile, except unloaded and cased/secured. You must obtain permission from the State to purchase firearms (FOID Card).

Chicago/Cook Countydoes not allow private ownership of firearms at all, unless they were registered many years ago and the registration kept current annually, or you are one of the "priviliged classes" of rich and/or politically connected persons.

I recommend you try to find a job elsewhere, or economize to allow you to stay in Arizona. Good luck whatever your choices.

They must be offering you tons of money to move to that cesspool called $heet-cago in Cook County.

You ask if one can OC a gun in Cook County? Nein, no, nada, nyet, ninguno, etc....

Can a resident legally own a gun in Cook County? nein, no, nada......uuh, I think you get the picture.

Now, if you ask can a BAD GUY illegally own a gun in Cook County, well that brings up a different answer.

It would seem then that you (and all of us) might want to take an interest in the outcome of this Chicago Case headed possibly to the Supreme Court:

On to the Supreme Court…
Published by Alan Gura under Uncategorized

Yesterday the Seventh Circuit announced its decision in our case.

It wasn’t surprising, considering the panel’s comments at oral argument. Of course this decision is completely wrong. The Seventh Circuit should have conducted a modern selective incorporation analysis and held the Second Amendment incorporated. The dicta suggesting that the right to self-defense may be abrogated by statute, and that the exercise of fundamental individual rights can be curtailed at the state level as a nod to federalism, is particularly troubling.

In any event, Chicago’s gun ban is now one step closer to its demise. Our petition to the Supreme Courtwill be filed verysoon. Watch this space for details….

I have no doubt that the Chicago ban will be overturned, however....

We are nearing the one-year anniversary of the Heller decision, and DC seems to be as obstructionist as possible. They still will not allow "registration" of a firearms designed and sold almost 100 years ago. I believe it will be several/many years before a citizen will be "allowed" to "keep and bear arms" in these two places in the same way that one can in Arizona, or even Florida/Texas.

In my opinion the USSC should have said "You have 5 days to implement Arizona/Utah gun ownership/use laws, or you will be a guest of the Government, and all your personal property seized to pay the court costs.".

Or maybe I just need another bottle...:lol:

I think it is inevitable too. Some of the adjacent suburbs of Chicago have already modified their gun bans to begin being inline with Heller. Not every municipality has the legal budget that King Richie has, after all.

Even now, there are several suburbs of Chicago that are not as strict as Chicago. They'restrict, but one can at least own a handgun in the home.Presently, one cannot even own a handgun in his or her Chicago home. Some suburban shooting ranges will however store them for customers and that is legal.

Change will come to Chicago. The NRA and citizen-advocates will see to that. But it will be hard. You think that Barrett/Flynn up in Milwaukee is tough? Wait until Daley starts losing some legal battles...

But it will be sweet for King Richie to spend $50 million of the taxpayers money on the lawyers and get nothing for it. Can't wait for him to get all red-faced andincoherent--just like his old man useta do. Those Daleys, they're funny when angry. :D

I would rather be poor and free than rich and a slave. I took a huge pay cut to come to AZ, and the freedom I've experienced has led me to a newfound euphoria.

No job, no money, nothing, not even the death of a family member will get me back in CA until my rights are equal or better than they are here in AZ.

But, to answer your question, you may as well sell your guns to me really cheap because you can't have or carry them in Chicago.

Have a great gun carryin' Kenpo day

Looks like I'm about to follow in your footsteps. I'll have absolutely nothing but my car and my clothes when I get there! But damn, I know it'll be worth it.

I like to visit the bay occasionally, but yeah, no way in hell I'd ever live there.
