A woman grabbed a shotgun and shot two armed men who forced their way into a Mesa home late Wednesday night, police said.
One of the home invaders was killed; the second was in stable condition at a hospital.
Police said the two armed men forced their way into a home near Stapley and Southern and herded the woman and three men who lived there into one room.
"While there in that room, one of the victims was able to grab a shotgun that was in that room and shot and killed one of those suspects who had entered the home," said Police Sgt. Ed Wessing.
"She fired several times at the second suspect, who fled the home. Later, we were able to locate the suspect at a local hospital, being treated for a gunshot wound."
The residents of the home were in their late teens or 20s, Wessing said. None was hurt.
Wessing said investigators do not believe the victims and the suspects knew each other
