    moving back to SW WA are just got out of the USAF and looking for a sheriffs office that will issue same day or sooner than a month, seems retarded to me that a shall issue state takes a month.

    is there a PD that will even do this or am I stuck waiting. Not that it helps but I do have my DE permit.

    thanks!

    As a resident, you don't have much choice as to where to apply:
    (13) A person may apply for a concealed pistol license:

    (a) To the municipality or to the county in which the applicant resides if the applicant resides in a municipality;

    (b) To the county in which the applicant resides if the applicant resides in an unincorporated area; or

    (c) Anywhere in the state if the applicant is a nonresident.

    Make sure you pay in cash, I know in Clark County they wait for the check to clear.

    I got mine in Klickitat County (Goldendale), a ways from Vancouver. It took all of 30 minutes as they have the automated print machine at the Sheriffs office.

    Be advised the CC sheriff's office is improperly signed (as of my last visit) to prohibit firearms in the entire building in direct violation of RCW 9.41.300.

    To whit: the 'common areas of egress or ingress open to the general public' which are specifically exempted by law from restriction, are posted as off limits. Despite the sign on the front door you are absolutely within the law to PC in to apply for your CPL.

    I'll come with you if you like!

    That's kind of an interesting assertion; IANAL so I can't contradict it right off the top of my head, but it certainly seems questionable. Do you have a WA DL yet? Etc. etc...

    Yeah, I want to be a fly on the wall when you go into some Law Enforcement Agency other than the one in whose jurisdiction you reside in, pull out your WA identification, and then claim you're not a resident. :?

    Maybe I'm reading this all wrong, but it still sounds to me like you're saying, "I'm a new enough WA resident that I can get away with pretending I'm not."

    No, WA is not resident only, but if you are a resident you have to go to your county sheriff or municipality PD to apply; only non-residents can pick and choose where to apply.

    Like I said, I may be misunderstanding if you're actually a WA resident yet or not, but if so, I'd highly recommend you apply at your correctly local LE agency--if nothing else, the address on your permit and your DL will match for a while. :-)
