We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It does seem rather harsh, given the circumstances. I guess you have to ask yourself if you are willing to gamble on an unpredictable jury. I think I would be inclined to keep my head down and not make waves for the length of the probation. Have you asked anybody how this will affect your ability to buy other guns?

If you plead guilty to any felony, even with some reduced sentencing agreement in place, your gun rights are gone (unless/until you get some future expunction or pardon). Definitely go over the fine print of any such agreement with your lawyer and consider the long-term ramifications. You may qualify for some kind of diversion/alternative sentencing where you enter a quilty plea, but they reduce or drop the charge after going through whatever hoops, but again, you'd need to go over that with the lawyer, and your rights would definitely be affected in the meantime, until it's fully resolved.
