The Clark Couny Code (where Las Vegas is) prohibits "any person to carry upon his person a concealed weapon of any description, including a knife with a blade of three inches or more..." Clark County Code: 12.04.180 Concealed weapons prohibited without permit http://www.municode.com/Resources/gateway.asp?pid=16214&sid=28

Each of the incorporated cities within Clark Caounty have a similar prohibition.

Her first trip to Vegas and you picked AUGUST??!!
112 degrees of sweltering fun. lol..
Wait till it's 100 at midnight and ask her id she ever wants to come back. lol..

Anyway.. Ken's right. 3" or less you're ok.

Your 3.5" Tanto is not likely to get found in your unless you get patted down for some reason.. and it might not be a big deal even if you do... but if a cop wants to make it an issue, you can count on it being at least a little bit of trouble, if only losing your blade.

I am sure you can carry it in a sheath on your belt though. (law only talks about concealed blades/weapons)

I carry that same knife every day in nevada.

post office, library, casinos, banks, etc. No one cares.

P.S.

I look "menacing." 6'4" shaved head, big black knee high boots, "nazi attire." People think that a flight jacket = skinhead... not that I wear that in 110+heat.
