I was kicked out of the Cambridge Walmart on Friday.

I got a cart and started to load it up with the sale soda that was on a pallet by the door when one of the greeters came up to me and asked me if I was a cop. I said no and she said that I couldn't have the gun in there. I left my partialy filled cart and walked out of the store. I went over to the CUB accros the street and spent about $100 there instead. When I got home I called to talked to the management and Dwayne(if I heard right) said that it is not their policy but he would check with someone higher up and get back to me. I never got a call back. I've got audio of the conversation with greeter I just have to trim it down nobody wants to here the two hours of errands I ran befor the incident.

good work - if managfement did not back up greeter, you might want to return and mention tot he next greeter that bothers you that "the manager told you gthere is no such policy so have a nice day" and go on about your business.

A door greeter cannot ask you to leave. Only a member of the store management as --salaried member of management, or a support manager as I understand it can ask you to leave a walmart store...no hourly employee has the authority to do so. At least this is how I understand it.

I'd go back there and talk to the manager in person. Let them hear the recording. It isn't Wal-Mart policy to stop people from legally carrying.

I used to work for the company and it is my understanding that any employee can ask you to leave. Now, said employee had better be damn sure that when they ask you to leave that you are actually doing something wrong otherwise you may get written up for it. I had some people come up to me and try to sell me a golf course membership. I told them that soliciting was not allowed on store property and asked them to leave. They did so and I was backed by management so there was no issue. Most employees would not stick their neck out and ask you to leave like that unless they were reasonably sure that what your doing was against the interests of the company. Most would alert management and have them do it instead. I think you got a tool who didn't like guns and knew that if asked to leave you would.

Personally, if I'm getting kicked out of a place I'd ask for the manager on duty and make them do it. Assuming of course they're not there already.

It is not company policy to ban legal carry. I would meet with the manager and play the relevant section of tape.

In their training Wal-Mart says the typical family customers will spend about $240,000 over their lifetime at the store if you treat them well. Don't let them turn you away without a fight.

We have had three (3) seperate instances (to my knowledge) in Wisconsin. In all three, Wal-Mart management called the police.

The first incident, the LEO actually DREW on an OC inside the store.

The second, LEO escorted the patron out.

The third, LEO lay in wait for the patron to exit the Wal-Mart parking lot and then six(6) cars surrounded the individual and detained him for almost four (4) hours.

Contacting Wal-Mart through their on-line form, useless.

Writing a letter to Wal-Mart customer service, useless.

Asking for help/information from some other state threads, useless.

My opinion of Wal-Mart..........., useless.

Sorry -- you understand it wrong.

Subd. 17.Posting; trespass. (a) A person carrying a firearm on or about his or her person or clothes under a permit or otherwise who remains at a private establishment knowing that the operator of the establishment or its agent has made a reasonable request that firearms not be brought into the establishment may be ordered to leave the premises. A person who fails to leave when so requested is guilty of a petty misdemeanor. The fine for a first offense must not exceed $25. Notwithstanding section 609.531, a firearm carried in violation of this subdivision is not subject to forfeiture.
The law doesn't care about Walmart policy; you could be cited if ANY employee asks you to leave and you refuse.

I don't have a source for this right now, but in other Wal-mart threads, it has been stated that Wal-Mart's official corporate policy is that only a salaried member of their staff is empowered to tell a customer to leave. This means management, not doormen.

I have no doubt that is Walmart's policy, but THE LAW DOES NOT CARE. If you are asked to leave by the janitor, YOU ARE STILL VIOLATING THE STATUTE if you stay.

Listen: in six years and with over 65,000 Minnesota permit holders, we are aware of exactly ZERO citations for violation of that clause. Why be the first?

well, guess you will know what to tell the greeter next time - "manager Duane told me that's not your policy, thanks."

you guys need to be aware of who, by law, can speak / act on behalf of the corporation. There's a good possibility it doesn't include the manager, either.
An "agent" is a person specified according to law. Merely being an employee, manager or otherwise, doesn't grant that status.

I haven had an issue since, the last few months I have been concealing, but I will start open carrying again as soon as it's warm enough to leave my coat at home. I was in there today and I bought 6 boxes of 9mm for $10 a box.
