I just found out about this site and figured i'd join. I was looking at the maps and it says for NC you have to be at least 18 to OC. Well, i'm 19, but don't you have to be 21 to have a pistol purchase permit? How do you legally get a gun at 19 to legally OC in North Carolina?

The obvious answer is for maybe a family member to let you use one or give you one. YOur right about being 21 to purchase so it gets kind of tricky for the 18-20 group. Good luck. And make sure you check out the NC pages, just scroll down to the states.

Yea, it is pretty tricky. Thanks for your help. I'll probably just wait until I'm 21 anyway. It's not really a big deal, i just didn't understand how it was possible for an 18yr old to OC.

Some sheriffs in NC will issue purchase permits to the 18-20, though it is rare, and usually you need a good reason.
You can purchase from a private party in NC at 18, just not a FFL dealer, if you have a purchase permit.
One method is to have your parents purchase a weapon for you. It will be 'their' gun, but you can carry it with no problems.
