This isn't some sort of baited or trick question. But since this is a forum of OC members I'm thinking this is a good resource for your input. Here it is:

Let's say you walk OCing through a place of business or somewhere similar, the only thing that is important, it is among arandommix of people. The placecould be a mall, grocery store, strip mall, WM, or wherever. Let's say that 100 people had the chance to see you, and they had the opportunity to see you from your strong side as you walked by.

When I say "see" it means they had the opportunity of an unobstructed well-lit view of you, it doesn't mean they were necessarily required to concentrate on you or looking for something in particular. They had no knowledge beforehand that they would be asked later about any of the people walking past them. IOW no head's up for them at all. Also in a random mix like this some will be closer to you than others (FWIW).

Out of the 100 people, roughly speaking:

1. How many would nevernotice that you were armed?

2. How many would think that you were some sort of leo?

3. How many would feel worried, concerned, uneasy, or whatever?

4. How many would think that you were simply OCing?

My answer IMHO:

1. 40

2. 40

3. 15

4. 5

Someone reading this post may think who cares, or don't care what they think. Well frankly I basically agree, but an opinion answer like that doesn't really contribute to answering a difficult question like this that I've never seen discussed anywhere. BTW if anyone has a related article or something feel free to post it here.

It's all in the presentation. First, I have CCP. With that said, I can dress nice looking, and carry myself as a normal guy, not showing off or acting stupid, and most people don't even give me a second look., while open carrying. But on the other hand I can and have been stopped by off duty leo in a store while I looked like a bum, no offense too bums, I work 12hr. nite shift and sometimes in a rush and just throw some clothes on while concealed carrying. ( I think he overheard a conversation at the gun counter, and followed me. Just guessing.

Like I said I think it's in the presentation. Also, I never OC if I am not dressed acorrdingly Gbav1

I agree with the "presentation", it's more important in a lot of facets of life than some folks realize.
