I was told by a friend (who also told me UOC was illegal without a permit) that wearing a bullet proof vest is illegal in CA. i figured i would look for info on here since people seem to know what they are talking about. the one vest that may or may not be in question is a thin one, no trauma plates, eaisly concealable under a t-shirt, it would just make you look a little fat. i want to wear one while carrying because like ive mention in another topic, a leo told me that UOC is dangerous because a rookie cop might get scared and pull the trigger.
leg holsters... legalfor CAUOC or not? i think that wearing one is gonna make me look like im trying to be "tacticool" or maybe a littledorky, but it seems like it might be safer around rookie cops that might pull the trigger if i can avoid having my hand near my gun while reaching for my wallet, or cigarettes or what ever.
thoughts on the leg holster? facts on the vest?
There is no prohibition on a non-Leo for wearing a vest - except in the commision of a crime (felony?).
Exposed Leg/thigh holsters;i.e. not a concealed ankle rig - they are not statutorily exempt like a belt/waist holster is. I don't even think Theseus' DA would try to prosecute a thigh rig as 'concealed'.
take into account the city of los angeles has a law that prohibits anyone who does not have a permit(police, armed security or ccw) from wearing a holster-i dont have the exact codes and such but it is a city ord.I think your friend needs to actually read the penal code. Neither a bullet proof vest or a leg holster is going to be illegal UNLESS that leg holster makes the gun concealed.
I think this is the second post I've seen in which you make this assertion. Please provide a cite. I've searched both the LA City and County Codes and have not found any such law/restriction etc. I am not guaranteeing the absence of any such law but if you are going to assert the existence of such a law, please provide a citation.KylaGWolf wrote:take into account the city of los angeles has a law that prohibits anyone who does not have a permit(police, armed security or ccw) from wearing a holster-i dont have the exact codes and such but it is a city ord.I think your friend needs to actually read the penal code.
