I am not a member anymore, but I used to be a member of the Detroit Sportsmans Congress. They could easily handle a class of that size. It would probably be a good idea to contact them to find out if they'd be willing to host it.

The complete and utter truth can be challenged from every direction and it will always hold up. Accordingly there are few greater displays of illegitimacy than to attempt to impede free thought and communication.

You would be able to take the class as the certificates don't expire in MI....

They don't. The CPL instructer I had must have been misinformed then. He said it will expire in 6 months.

Follow the money......... There is not an expiration date in the statute, but I have heard some COUNTIES impose them illegally. I believe they would lose in a court case.

If they refuse your certificate all you have to do is call the State Police and have them clarify it. This has already been done in Van Buren County. The Clerk was told in no uncertain terms that she had to accept the certificate or risk investigation by the state police and possible charges for failure to follow the law.

Note you don't call the local post, you call lansing and speak with the firearms records division!

I need to renew at the end of this year. Depending on the date/time of the class, if you are unable to meet the 50 student quota at that time, I'm in. I know I'm not required to do so for renewal, but am willing to help out what I can.

I think you can, there is no age limitation and the certificates don't expire.

You don't have to go through the class again when you renew your CPL? What does the renewal process involve.

Basically, just signing the application certifying that you completed 3 hours of review and 1 hour of range time immediately preceding the application process.

ETA: Within 6 months preceding the application process.
