A couple more option choices for the poll would be:

Company policy prevents carry at work.

Federal Law or other binding statute prevents carry at work.

I'm fortunate in that as a small business owner I get to make my own rules. Because of that, I OC all of the time except when test driving a vehicle when I'm forced to CC (South Carolina is a non-OC state) or if physical positioning makes it impractical, such as while working upside down under the dash of a car.

Additionally, because I can carry on other's lawfully held property with their permissionaccording to state law, I have written permission from all the business owners in the area of my shop to OC so I don't have to disarm to getmy mail or pick-up/drop off one of their vehicles.

The only problem I've had is that one of the local parts stores won't deliver to me because they don't want their drivers exposed to a law abiding citizen exercising their Second Amendment right. That's okay, the other parts stores are happy to take my money.

I bet I can guess which one that is! Anyway, here In socialist Ct. almost every business has a NO GUNS ALLOWED Period policy. All these were written by lawyers for alleged "liability" reasons. In my place of business if some one so much as sneezed I would offer to call 911 for medical assistance.

Example; a person crashed to the floor claiming injury. I was on the phone with the FD immediately. The person got up fast and disappeared.

The point I'm trying to make is no matter what the written policy is a law suit is coming! If you are injured by a bad guy and you could have defended yourself SUE THE COMPANY. Afterall they have taken on the responsiblity to protect you from harm!

I work for an individual that is very pro-gun. He has an extensive collection of WWII battle rifles/carbines. Allot of times we're both OC on his property. I've yet to see him OC off the property though.

Can anyone write a poll that you can't find fault with?

Probably.
The main point for this one is that the choices do not cover my instance. I work on a military base. Stating that I "do not carry at work" makes it look like it is my choice to not carry.

So, now you are going to follow me around here and post little comments like that all the time? Seems futile to me.

It doesn't cover my circumstances at all times either. I CC in Texas, when I cross the Sabine River, I OC.

I just pick the closest oneand leave the poll writer alone, or I don't answer at all.

Don't be so conceited to think that anyone is following you. I go through the postings just like you do.

It isn't conceit. It also isn't about "going through the postings," it is about what a person chooses to post in response to others. Nothing would have been lost in this thread had you chosen to not respond to me, as your post was completely off-topic. But you knew that already...

When working it could often be difficult or even damaging to my gun to carry, but for some small jobs and estimates I carry concealed. Open carry would be cool, but the problem is that money is too hard to come across these days to risk offending customers.

I work in a federal government facility. While I have been tempted to carry, I'd probably get fired if I were to be caught doing so.

Federal building.
On a military base.
In DC.

One of those cases where the chance of being caught is slim, but the consequences more than I'm willing to accept at this point in my life.

Which, if you think about it, is really what a law is If the consequences are such that you're willing to accept them (like a $20 fine for texting while driving, and then only if you're pulled over for something else), that law will be ignored.

I'm not strictly *required* to carry at work, although I'd be a damned fool not to, it's expected, and I'm encouraged to do so, so I checked that I was. Hope that's not too confusing. Pretty much armed all day, every day. The last 3 years have been very peaceful (except for a memorable police stop). Longwatch and I are spoiled. My condolances to Tess.

Lucky you. By the way, was ityou there last Friday late afternoon wearing VCDL hat and a 1911? I wasn't sure that it was you (I only saw you on pics you posted on this forum) and I was kind of in a rush so didn't have time to ask you there...
