    Mr. Braun,

    We would prefer that you not bring any firearm into the building, unless of course, you are a commissioned officer. But if you must, there is a lockbox and the bailiff can assist you with that.

    So is there any reason in particular why "they" would "prefer" that a law abiding citizen leave their firearm at home, or in their vehicle?

    Yea. They think LEO are highly trained in the use of a firearm and we are not.
