"Protecting the right to own and bear arms. I am a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment for the same reason the Founding Fathers were, and it wasn’t just to hunt!"

    Catherine Crabill from her website.

VCDL and Virginia members should take note of this firecracker. I never heard of her until yesterday and I would like to think that I am pretty informed.

"Crabill, a real estate agent and home-schooling mother of four, said yesterday that she would not back down from her defense of the right to use bullets to address government grievances, saying that if fiery words were good enough for Henry, they're good enough for her.

"Those are my convictions," Crabill, 52, said in a telephone interview. "I am a full-blooded, freedom-loving American, and what we're seeing in Washington is domestic terrorism at its worst."

Nice, Your last link Redknight lost me. I'm not to hip on getting my info from blogs.

I wasn't trying to find you. You mentioned you hadn't heard of her before yesterday. I pulled the first few links from a Google News search to show you that there has actually been quite a bit of news activity about her, and that there were many other places to find out about her beyond her website. What does being "not to(sic) hip" have to do with that?

I wonder ifthe Republicans will be too soft to back her and possibly distance themselves from her. I think she has said what has been on a lot of people's minds for some time now. To me it seems like someone like herisrelevant to the second amendment movement here in Virginia.

    I called this one right!

    **************************************************
    1. VA GOP establishment denounces pro-gun Catherine Crabill
    **************************************************

I don't see anything wrong in what Ms. Crabhill, Republican candidate
for Delegate from the 99th District, said at a "Tea Party" event
earlier this year. Certainly nothing that would justify the
Republicans running from her, if the blog below is accurate.

After reading from the Founding Fathers, she said at around 13:20 into
    this video:

    http://www.dailykostv.com/w/001942/

"We have the chance to fight this battle at the ballot box, before we
have to resort to the bullet box. But that's the beauty of the Second
Amendment right. I am glad for all of us that we can enjoy the use of
firearms for hunting, but make no mistake. That was NOT the intent of
the Founding Fathers. Our Second Amendment rights was to guard
    against tyranny."

Fighting tyranny IS a key reason for the Second Amendment. Period.

She didn't say the government we have now is tyrannical. She didn't
say to not have civil discourse. She is saying that if the government
ever becomes tyrannical, we have a method to take back the country and
    restore our rights.

This sounds like candidates are being cowed by political correctness
and that's not good. Political correctness is a means to control
speech and thought - no thanks:

    Folks,

What did this lady, Catherine Crabill, say that is wrong?

Here is what the "leaders" said according to the WaPo:

    To the statements:

From Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins:
"We do not condone or support the comments Catherine Crabill has made.
That kind of talk has no place in civil political discourse. She has
received no assistance from the state party, nor will she in the
    future."

From Tucker Martin, spokesman for McDonnell:
"It's absolutely wrong for any candidate of any party to refer to the
actions of the President of the United States and members of the
United States Congress as 'domestic terrorism,' and to threaten to
resort to violence if one fails to prevail in elections," Martin said,
in what he said was his first public comment on the issue. "We disavow
Catherine Crabill's comments and know that they do not reflect the
sentiments of Republicans across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Republicans, Democrats and Independents in Virginia have a history of
civil discourse and we will not campaign for or with Catherine Crabill."

From Matt Wells of the Bolling camp:
"Lieutenant Governor Bolling disagrees strongly with Ms. Crabill's
comments and he rejects those comments in the strongest possible
terms. Comments like these have no place in a political campaign. Ms.
Crabill was clearly speaking for herself, not for Lieutenant Governor
Bolling, any of our other statewide candidates, or the Republican
Party of Virginia. We have no plans to campaign for or with Ms.
    Crabill."

And, rounding out the denunciations, from Chris LaCivita of
    Cuccinelli's campaign:
"Our campaign has no intention of campaigning with Catherine Crabill,"
he said. "Our campaign does not believe in using violence or threats
of violence in a manner to entice people to vote."

Crabill's response is that the video was selectively edited before
finally being posted in its entirety. She stands by her statements in
dfenese of the Second Amendment and the original intent of the
drafters of the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution.

Ken Cuccinelli is the guy running around talking about the Gadsden
flag! Why did he let loose Chris LaCivita to attack her?

This lady is being targeted by the Republican establishment and the
Democrats for nothing more than quoting Patrick Henry and accurately
stating the purpose of the 2nd Amendment.

Oh, and she defends Ron Paul.

McDonnell and the establishment are attacking her and disavowing her
because they are scared of the Democrat's attacks on them.

    Well duh!

It's the cringing dog that gets kicked.

So they want her to drop out of the race against Pollard? They are
refusing to provide her with any support in her legislative race.

    ...

What she said is no more radical than Suzzana Gratia Hupp telling
Schumer at a House hearing on TV back in the nineties that "we" need
our guns to protect our selves from people like you. She went on to be
    elected a Texas State Rep.

This is no more radical than U.S. Senator Steve Symms (R-ID) saying we
had the ballot box, the jury box and the catridge box.

This is no more radical than our founders who not only espoused the
idea of armed resistance to tyrants ... Sic Semper Tyrannis ... but
acted on it. It is the Commonwealth's motto for crying out loud!...

McDonnel, Bowling, &Cuccinelli dropped her like a hot potato. Figures. I can't believe Cuccinelli's camp! I wish I would have seen the VCDL alert before I donated to his campaign.

Another thing that frosts meis thatshe really put herself out there and she has just been left hanging. I mean to me it seems like this thread should have a lot more posts and responses, but I guess it doesn't have to do with strictly open carrying or dining at a restaurant, etc. etc.

Whatever, I'm getting frustrated about the direction of the country and the commonwealth. I'm really upset to see the direction of theg.o.p. You would think they have learned some lessons, but it seems like it's business as usual with the country club republicans and their quest to be seen as humble, moderates.

Yes, you DID call this right!

The irony is that it is now BOB who is being hammered with his 20 year-old thesis.

So, who's the hot potato now?

I looked around the VCDL site for whatever Cuccinelli did, but can't find anything. what happened, other than distancing himself from Crabill?

I received a flier in today's mail from Rob Wittman asking for support in the June 8, 2010 primaryto selectthe Republican candidate for the Virginia 1st Congressional District.

Surprised, I called Wittman's local office and learned that Crabill is seeking revenge for her betrayal by the State Republicans in her efforts to be elected a delegate. Shehas declared her candidacy for the Republican nomination for the US Congress andwill beopposing Rob Wittman in the aforementioned primary.

The Democrat's challenger is Krystall Ball (no, I'm not kidding), http://www.krystalballforcongress.com/site/. Krystall has money and has hired a campaign management firm (from California).

Wittmanmight be able todefeatBall in November, but could Crabill?

    You damn right she could.
Wittman is a good guy but he is fast becoming a Washington Politician.
When it comes to Krystal Ball he would be the less of 2 evils but I'm tired of voting for the less of 2 evils. My vote is going to Crabill and if the Republicans denounce her this time it will be a shoe in for her. The country is sick of both parties and Crabill is too. She'll come home and tell us not what is wrong with the democratics but what is wrong in Washington.
Both parties should be scared to death of her.

It would be better if she could go there andfix what's wrong, rather than just come home and complain about it.
Both parties should be scared to death of her. The Republicans obviously are. They think she's a loose cannon.
