Lol, nice. I didn't know being a greeter was such a high class job =)

I've actually a very similar incident here at Bellingham's Wal-mart. Although, she didn't say I couldn't enter. When I went to walmart I walked past the greater I heard someone behind me say "excused me sir". Figuring they were talking to me I turned around and the greater was looking right at me and I think to myself "here we go". Anyways, she asked about my gun and I did the usual speech and handed her a pamphlet. She asked if she could call and check with management about the gun so I said go ahead sense I wasn't in any kind of hurry. After waiting a couple minutes the manager shows up and says its fine and they get people open carrying every day.

So I was curious as to what my local wal-mart would do on the issue so I called and spoke with Jennifer who introduced herself as "one of the managers".

I asked if walmart had issues with their customers opencarying and she said that policy said they do because it's a family environment, then she put me on hold and said so was going to doublecheck, came back on the line and stated "as long as you are concealing it and have a permit then it's fine"

...Should I push them and see what they do if I go in there? I have a feeling some manager was making up rules and "policy" as they see fit. Clearly i can CC in any store as they wouldn't know because I'm concealing it. I'd rather not though as it's uncomfortable.

I was refering to this walmart btw:

From what i understand, Walmart likes to give conflicting answers. I read a post where one member mentioned he has made a ring tone from one of the cooperate heads saying it was "ok".

- I might take it up the chain, see if someone in a high position can give you a snail mail on cooperate letter head.

My Thoughts.

If you're not going to like the answer, don't ask the question. If there isn'ta notice on the door prohibiting firearms, assume that there is no prohibition. Go on about your business as you normally do. If asked to leave, thenleave without making a purchase and never return.

I wish people would quit asking.

It's already gone up the chain last year (or longer), and while they will never send you anything in writing (I asked) they will verify that it is allowed. More asking is only going to pin them against the wall, at which point they will issue a written policy; against firearms carry.

Just carry your sidearm like you wear a watch. Don't poke the hornets nest unnecessarily.

My smart ass response: Oh my god! Your mother must be so proud!I bet you she hung that test right up there on the fridge. How many gold stars did they give you for that?

Edit: As far as policy I believe it was stated they abide by the law of which ever state the store resides in.

David, that is the crux of the matter. Bentonville (Mecca to Wal-Mart folks) says what you say; follow the laws of the state that that store is in. Managers, at least those with an agenda, will try to lie their way into your compliance with their bullship. Just answer point for point until they give in. At least that's worked for me.

"You're scaring people."
--"That's funny. I didn't see anybody scared and I watch for that."

"People aren't used to seeing guns."
--"It's time they learned that good people are armed."

"That's illegal."
--"Actually it's not. Would you care to discuss it?"

And so on. Other members can supply better replies than these. How about it?

You know, that really does explain an awful lot about Wal-Mart.

Gotta wonder why so many of youse all keep going to Wal-Mart.

Oh, maybe it's related to....this:

Wal-Mart (WMT) revenues in 2008 = $405.6 billion.

Because they are all sheep. One blindly following the other. Baaaa! Baaaaa! Baaaaa!

As long as everyone flocks there there will be no change in Wal-Mart's policies on anything.

There are lots of stores, other than "Wally World" that sell essentials (and even the non-essentials). For me, Wal-Mart is the LAST place I shop and then only under protest.

I just don't get it....I have been to Federal Way Wal Mart every month for the past couple years now.....never had an issue with anyone in the store, ever. Had a question or two from the odd customer, but never anything with the greeters or the other personnel. They HAVE to know I'm carrying.
That's because THE greeter wasn't there yet. He'll have them whipped into shape in no time!:?

But you do shop there. And so does everybody else.

Even the guys who proudly declare: "I will not step foot in a Wal-Mart!" are cribbing--they just send the wife or the kids overto the Super Wal-Mart...

No effective boycott of Wal-Mart has ever happened. I wonder why people bother with the charade.

Political correctness is all it is... :uhoh:

The ironic thing is that the way left socialist libruls do exactly the same thing our own politically correct boycotters here do---they rail against W-M for its sins and vow not to patronize Wally World.....except for this...except for that.....

So there is at least one American social group that combines BOTH whiny anti libruls and hard right constitutionalist gun owners---the anti-Wal-Mart cadre.

Gawd, that's so humorous.... :D

It is simple economics. If you can afford to buy all your stuff somewhere else, good for you and good luck to you. But most people (especially now a-days) are looking for ways to save money because the belt got tighter. Wally World is one place where that can be done.

I shop at wal-mart because I'm not arrogant enough to waste time and money. The other day I was at an open debate for fair trade and a bunch of people (poor college students) bragging about how they spend more for less.

I like shopping at Walmart. This idea that they only sell Chinese stuff is silly. They sell the same brands as everyone else, just at cheaper prices. Last trip I bought Quaker State oil, a Fram oil filter, Kellogg's cereal, Bounty paper towels, Cascade dish soap, and some other random stuff. AFAIK every single one of those things is made here in the USA.

"Does Quaker State use american drillled oil? :p "

I believe that by law, owing to the name Quaker State, that they must use Pennsylvania crude, which has certain properties that other crudes don't, such as higher film strength.

You'd think that would be an advertising point, but I couldn't find anything on their website.

Pennzoil and Quaker State are both part of Shell Oil Products US, owned by Royal Dutch/Shell.
