What ever happened to being polite and discrete?
I needed some new arrows for the upcoming archery hunt and went to the MidvaleSportsman's Warehouse yesterday. They were lacking customer service which is irrelevant. I happened to be squatting down looking at the broad heads when some yahoo(customer), in a loud voice says, “he's got a gun, he's got a gun everyone, look”. I looked up in disgust to see if he was really talking about me and my XD. Sure enough he was looking at me smiling like he was trying to be my friend. I didn't think it was funny and he didn't get a smile in return. I kind of shook my head and went about my business.
It is common decency to not make personal comments about someone or their appearance. I put it in the same category as asking a fat woman if she is pregnant or are you a police officer because you have a gun. What if I was a police officer, would you give me a cookie or a high five? Why are people so curious and disrespectful.
Thinking about that later I was glad I was in a hunting/outdoors store and not in a bank. In the wrong situation those kind of comments could very well place you at the wrong end of a gun. I'm trying to think of a way diffuse it or down play something like that in the future. The way people are it's going to happen again and I want to be prepared.
