Can my loaded magazine be in my handgun case while traveling in the trunk of my vehicle? Or do you have to separate them?

Wisconsin law is encased, unloaded and out of reach. Separated is, I believe, from federal law for interstate transport.

To rephrase: Yes, you can carry the ammo in the same case as the weapon as long as the magazine is detached from the weapon and no round is left in the chamber. In order to transport a weapon across state lines, the ammo needs to be in a separate, lockable container from the weapon.
