Doubtful. There is simply no anti-carry law for rifles, other than they must be unloaded (school zones not-withstanding). While LEO may have a heated fuss about a semi-auto military look-alike weapon, they would be obliged by law to only check for loaded condition.

There has not been any UOC people shot by LEO, nor have any gang-bangers snatched a UOC weapon. There have been far too many illegal detainments by LEO, yes, nearly all of which have ended with the UOC reholstering his weapon and continuing his lawful business.

The oft repeated "gonna get shot by....." just does not occur.

(Just to clarify: CA school zones do NOT apply to long guns. The main things with long guns are it must be unloaded in cities, and you can't carry it into gov't buildings. Federal school zone laws do include long guns, but that law is extremely questionable in it's constitutionality.)
