My wife and I just got back from a weekend in Vegas. Stayed at a very nice timeshare that we didn't know was a timeshare. Booked on Expedia as a regular hotel room $89.00 for two nights. Checked in on Friday night and they asked if I wanted to sit through a sales presentation for $100.00 cash. Said yes, so Saturday, got a free lunch and talked guns with the sales guy for about an hour after I told him I was just there for the $100.00.
While on the way to Vegas my brakes began to shimmy a little bit, so I had to bring the Buick into a tire and brake shop and had the disks turned. Smoothed the problem right out. While waiting, I heard a guy by the door on a cell phone. The words Kimber and Glock caught my ear. I noticed he was carrying a Springfield 1911 openly for the world to see. Turns out he used to be a Marine, and is now starting up a CCW training company (NRA Instructor).
Open Carried all around the grounds of the timeshare. Only had one person ask about it, a local lady who wasn't aware that Open Carry was legal. She was with two male friends, one from New Hampshire who was familiar with the concept at least. She asked a few questions, and then she asked "Is it loaded now?"
I said yes and she kind of stepped back behind one of the guys and said "Now I am scared".
I responded "Ma'am, there hasn't been a single case in recorded history of a loaded gun jumping out of its holster, then running down the street and shooting someone all by itself. It always takes a person pulling the trigger to operate the gun."
This seemed to relax her somewhat as I obviously didn't appear to be a threatening person out to do evil.
Went into several different stores and nobody panicked. The only place I didn't carry was into the Casinos.
So turned out to be a good Open Carry weekend.
