OC in Ruidoso?

Hello All,

I'm going to be traveling from Texas to family property in Ruidoso in September. I have a TX CHL so I know I'm good to go for CC (in a non-banned area). My question is how well OC is received in Ruidoso. I certainly won't be carrying at all on reservation land like Inn of the Mountain Gods.

Thanks in advance, SA-TX

I am no expert on things Ruidoso, but I go there from time to time. Hopefully somebody who lives there will chime in.

My impression is that it will depend on who sees you. Most residents of smaller N.M. communities are very friendly to OC, but there are always a few hippie types who think .gov needs to run our lives. Chances are they will not talk to you or bother you.

What I don't know is whether LE there are friendly. New Mexico is a weird place, most cops know the law and respect it, but a few in Albuquerque and Santa Gay either don't know open carry is legal or choose to play dumb.

I'd say go for it. If somebody decides to be an ass you have your CCW and that's enough to make the jerk go away.

Iwouldn't even show your ccw if they ask for it. It has no bearing on the situation. Just carry a DVR and you'll be fine. I'll be OC in ruidoso this weekend I'll let you know how it goes.
