New Mexico Code 30-7-3

I am new to the New Mexico Firearms forum..., but I have a few questions for anyone who would know the answer.

Why does New Mexico per, NMC 30-7-3, prohibit all Firearms in all establishments Licensed to sell Alcohol,regardless if they are loaded or not,except for a Concealed Handguns for those who have Concealed Handgun Permits?

Did something happen in an Alcohol-based establishment that promted the creation of this Law to make this action a Felonous Crime?

Finally, does this prohibition apply to all establishments that sell Alcohol including Grocery Stores, Licquor Stores, etc.?

This prohibition seems strange, because otherwise New Mexico seems to be well in line with Arizona-style Firearms Laws. Is there any Legislative effort to Legalize this behavior, or to repeal 30-7-3?

I do not mean to prove pechulant, but a 19 year old person with a unconcealed Pistol is Legal in New Mexico, right. So, why does He become a Felon when He walks into a Grocery Store with a unconcealed Pistol?

i will do my best to answer your questions -

Why??? because cc holders were able to get it changed. i believe this statute was changed this year to include cc in restaurants that serve alcohol on premesis....the onliine statute may not show the new change.
i will look for it.

nothing comes to mind, but i could be wrong. it has been this way since i moved here 6 years ago.

YES YES YES YES!!! i can not emphasize this enough.
"consumption on premises" ie, bars,
"packaged sales" ie walmart, albertsons, walgreens, liquor stores, gas station minimarts.....ANYWHERE alcohol is sold.

in addition to the above you must pay attention to any signage that may be posted by the owner of ANY business or private property prohibiting firearms on the premises.

you are also not allowed to carry in casinos.

not to be picky, but this is actually a NM statue, not part of the NM administrative code.:dude:

OPPS...looks lik SB105 has died, so the restaruant exemption is NOT in effect.

Not correct. Was changed in 2007
