Judy and I went to the Westside Diner in Flint this morning for breakfast with sexfreak and met Tygereye and her beautiful (and smart) 7 year old daughter. The food was good but the conversation was better.

We were struck by the resolve and strength of commitment to principles of Tygereye who continues to OC even though 4 of her OC experiences resulted in 2 that involved hassle by store employees and/or police. You have courage Tygereye and Judy and I are honored to have met you!

Thank you so much Bikenut! My "odds" have definately improved, I am up to 8 or 10 experiences, and thankfully just the 2 incidents. I only carry at meet-ups and familygatheringsthough, for now. I am waiting for the CPL class, and the reciept of my CPL for the added "security" that it will hopefully give me. I will continue to get as many of these meets as I can to help to continue to boost my comfort levels!!

You are welcome Tygereye...

Judy sometimes doesn't open carry because she doesn't feel comfortable with the idea of being confronted by someone. Today she didn't intend to open carry anywhere else but the OC breakfast at the diner. But after meeting you she decided to continue OC'ing and...................

After leaving the diner Judy and I went to Menards to buy a new microwave oven. As we entered the store the greeter said "Hi" and her eyes got big when she saw Judy's pink gripped Smith immediately followed by the greeter rapidly talking into her phone. We just got carts and started looking for microwaves.

Well... we got to the back of the store and were checking out which microwave fit the dimensions we were looking for when a different store employee suddenly showed up asking if we needed help. After we told her what we were doing she said she would be right back because she needed to put the ink cartridge she had in her hand into the printer before the ink leaked out. (more on this later)

When she returned she was very helpful with the microwave... even putting it into the cart for us. Then, since we needed felt pads for a hutch's wooden feet and an extension cord also, made it a point to accompany us to the hardware section and to assist in picking out what we needed. Only after we asserted that those things were all we needed and we were going to check out did she leave us. Now... we have been in Menards before and have experienced great customer service but never have had anyone escort us everywhere as we shopped.

I think perhaps the greeter's phone call resulted in us first being checked out by the gal with the printer ink cartridge who... upon finding an older couple that probably looked like her parents... sized us up as "nondangerous" enough to go ahead with what she was already doing and then return to escort us around.

And the escort was a way for the store to not only give us excellent service but also to keep an eye on us... while allaying any other customer's possible fears since a store employee was with us.

Actually, until the general public gets used to legal open carry by ordinary folks, I applaud Menards for addressing any possible problems in this extremely intelligent manner.

Either that or everyone who comes in Menards gets a personal escort to help with their shopping?

did they carry it out to the car for you? I would have made the most of it. :) I have OC'ed at Menards many times in the past. The first time I was there I was followed by an employee dressed in dark/black clothing. They only followed for a couple of isles, but they were a little to close for comfort at 1 point. After that I have never had an issue and excellent service there.
