if on duty, can a police officer enter a military base if they have reasonable cause to believe that they suspect they are looking for lives on base?

Aaron1124 is correct. Military personnel are arrested just like anyone else for issues that occured off post. Sometimes they then try to "hide" on post thinking that they have some immunity (they don't).

Depends on the base and the circumstances. Many bases, such as Bangor and Bremerton are closed to casual, drive-thru traffic. Some buildings/areas are absolutely closedfor security considerations. Some, like Pensacola NAS have cursory checkpoints where car info is checked and maybethe driver's license. There may even be a few which are still open or have designed their roads and gates to allow access to public museums and events. Even then, the base police force exercises jurisdiction and is responsible for law enforcement on-base.

At the practical level though, the base Provost/Federal Policeis going to have a working relationship with local authorities to coordinate things like this. Local PD's and Sheriff's are going to call ahead, explain the circumstances and the individual will either be called to the Provost/FP Office, JAG Office or some sort of command location or, if searches, seizuresor other questionning are required, they're going to be accompanied by base personnel after approval (and maybe additional accompaniment) by a JAG representative.

Why? Are you hiding on base because of that pizza guy you drew down on?
I think U8dust you are at wrong site just try visiting some law enforcement forums or attorney Forums, I think this because I have noticed you have lots of queries regarding law, and none of us is qualified enough to answer all your sane/insane questions.

I agree, that the police can enter base, but this is generally best coordinated with the local base authorities. I can see some bad things happening if a cop tried to walk into a restricted/secured area...

They usually call ahead, request to speak to so and so, and then the MP's go pick the person up.

As a retired Federal LEO, I delt with this issue on a daily basis. It depends entirely upon the type jurisdiction involved. The Base at Bremerton is a perfect example. There are2 areas of different jurisdiction. The on base housing is concurrent jurisdiction, the police can and do enter the base while performing their lawful duties. they do not always inform the base nor are they required to do so.

The industrial area is exclusive jurisdiction, meaning only federal authorities have access. In a situation where local LEOneed to contact military or civilian personnel, who are in the industrial area, contact is made with the federal police, or agent, as the case may be and the subject is called toor escorted to the Fed's office and turned over to locals.

The main point for exclusive jurisdiction at this location is the lack of proper security clearance being held by the local LEO.

So basically, depending on the jurisdiction of the base?

Either way, it sounds as if Federal Officials (FBI, DEA, etc etc) are allowed, which would make sense.
