Peter Nickles responds in court to open-carry gun lawsuit. ‘Nickles counters the plaintiffs are attempting “to stretch the language of Heller far beyond what the Supreme Court found to be protected by the Second Amendment.”…”The District’s regulation of handguns at issue here is squarely in the mainstream and eminently reasonable, minimally intruding on the right announced in Heller to bear arms for the protection of ‘hearth and home,’ while at the same time safeguarding public safety under traditional police powers,” Nickles wrote, asking that the plaintiffs lawsuit be dismissed.’ Plaintiffs’ lawyer Alan Gura says to WaTimes: ‘It’s quite wrong, the city seems to think it’s not down with the Second Amendment, and they’ll find out they’re wrong.’

Edward Raymond, a Navy veteran enrolled in law school in New Hampshire, is listed as a plaintiff in the Palmer lawsuit. In April 2007, Mr. Raymond, who is not a D.C. resident, was stopped for speeding in the District while he was transporting a gun for which he had permits in Maryland and Florida. He was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor unregistered gun and unregistered ammunition charges.

I hate it when "normal police powers include making sure people can'tcarry guns, transport them or have ammo unless the government grants them some special privilege.

Squarely in the mainstream of....WHERE? China?

Nickles, needs to get out of DC once in a while and discover the rest of the country...the real mainstream.

'Traditional 'police powers'... for DC is denial of an enumerated Constitutional Right.

What part of 'Shall not be infringed' escapes them?

Squarely in the mainstream of TYRANNY!
