Curious - if you can store it at work, why they don't allow you to carry it? Is it the perceived negative visual impact?

Presume the stored gun is accessible to you and hope it is safe from unauthorized users.

I move around alot and bump into people it's a food joint.. So I have it under the register or just outta reach and eye sight of public an if I wanted to carry it I could I just like it near by and it's a great conversation starter.

OC all day Fred Meyers, forest grove and some stores in tanasbourne.. Not a peep

So technically someone could just reach under the register and take it? I think I'd rather just have it on me.

It's not as easy as that I don't make it easy to grab/see to customers and never in same place ... But in my defense couldn't someone grab your gun out of your holster? Isn't that what we practice and keep aware for?

Not intended as a flame starter - I'd much rather have the gun under my direct control......even if I had to CC it or maybe CC one + OC the empty holster.

Truth is though I'm not there in your shoes - gotta go with your insight on your situation.

And here I was presuming that you had been keeping your gun in your boss's vault or at least under lock and key.

No fire started and thank you for the being it of the doubt .. Its a 6and 1/2ft counter no more than 3ft high with many places to set things and curtains to hide.. I'm very strategic in where I put it and how I have planned on if when it's appropriate to use such an action.. For instance if someone where to come in an rob the place.. It's not my money... As well as the kitchen is a foot away I could run for it and there are many knives to throw.. And plane and obvious cameras(X4) it's a small place I never really lose sight of the front door or the counter.. And I do have other cooks who work with me who know about it and one I took to a range with me before..

No fires no ill comments intended but I assume (ass-u-me) when anyone gives a comment like mine my mind goes to that, that person has made a plan of attack/defense/getaway. It's self defense not be a hero. To me it's a tool and if I need it it's there out side of work it's on me 25/8 I just prefer while I'm serving food that It not be a distraction or an obstacle for bumping into people.. But hey everyone has opinions and stuff

OC all day from couch to fridge and back ;)

this morning my dad and i went to the scrapyard and i was confronted by an employee with "is that a weapon" in an accusatory tone
i replied with "yes, is that a problem" fully expecting to get escorted out.
him: 'well not unless you have a problem with me or anyone in here'
me: 'i don't think i have a reason to'
him: 'it's just that we don't get alot of people in here carrying guns'
i make eye contact with my dad (who was standing RIGHT next to me) sporting his stylish CC vest, and thought to my self that there are alot more than he realizes
him: but it might be good to have around here with the type of people that come in to this place turning in scrap metal'
me: 'yup, there's some crazy people out there and you just never know ...'
him: 'so are you a cop or something?'
me: 'nope, just a citizen carrying for self defense'

and here is where his tone changed
him: 'id like to carry, but i don't have any experience with guns'

we chatted more and i directed him to the local shooting range for firearm instruction and familiarization.
over all a positive encounter, although i was a bit unsure for the first moment.
it's too bad i didn't have a flyer on my person. if only there were in a more handy size ...

had a nice picnic at the park. fed the ducks on the Willamette, burnt some dead cow and threw threw the baseball and frisbee.
went to the US bank branch office to cash a few checks with my dad. while we were there, i asked the manager what their policy is on firearms, and he said that they'd prefer customers carry concealed.

Often the less of an issue one makes of OCing, the less of an issue it will be.

Did you also ask them about tattoos and camouflage clothing? :p

For sure on that one. I never bring it up, or draw attention to the fact that I am carrying.
If they approach you, just remain polite and explain whats what.

I forgot: had dinner out last night. The lady in the booth behind us was non-stop full throttle gabbing the whole time we were there. When I stood up to leave she suddenly got very quiet. It made me smile :)

What would have made me smile was if when I stood up she asked about my open carrying and I could have educated her. Not that she was scared speechless.
