If someone is working the show, I'll print up some fliers with directions. We may get a couple hundred extras from the show.
Here's a thought, for discussion -- or rejection.

What if the Rally organizers work with C&E to negotiate a deal like the following (as an example):

Attend the 2009 VCDL Freedom Rally on Saturday, October 17th -- then attend the Richmond C&E Gun Show on Sunday, October 18th

[align=center]HALF-OFF Admission!

Posting here is great, but don't forget to let VCDL know.

......... rough head count for further planning purposes.
If you are planning on coming, please send an email to:

FreedomRally@vcdl.org

Make the subject line "YES" with a dash and the number of attendees,
like this: "YES - 4"

We will NOT read the body of the email itself, but will simply count
attendance by looking at the subject line.

**Please respond ONLY if you are ABLE to attend.**

From VaAlert:

**************************************************
1. VCDL Freedom Rally on October 17th is a "must attend" event!
**************************************************

I find myself in the frustrating position of telling you that you
really, really don't want to miss the VCDL Freedom Rally, while at the
same time not being able to share ALL the details.
The problem is
that some of it is to be a surprise, so you're stuck having to take my
word for it on blind faith. :-(

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 17th from 2 PM to 7 PM. The
rally will be at two locations during the day: 1) the Innsbrook
Shoppes mall (Cox and Broad) and 2) near the Republican Roundup being
held by the GOP 7th District at the SnagAJob Pavilion (Nuchols Road
and Lake Brook Drive).

The two locations are about a mile apart and parking should not be a
problem at either location. VCDL members in orange vests will be
coordinating the effort, helping with such things as parking and
directions.

We will have professionally made signs with various messages on them
for members to carry.

Doc Thompson of WRVA (AM 1140 in Richmond) will be one of our guest
speakers.

Afterwards, various restaurants at the Innsbrook Shoppes will be
welcoming gun owners onto their premises for a meal before you head
home. We will have a list of restaurants and whether they will be
offering any discounts to VCDL members in a future update.

We expect national and local TV coverage of this rally. EM Matt
Gottchalk will also be filming the event for the VCDL web site.

Be sure to bring your whole family, friends, co-workers and other like-
minded people (like those from other liberty groups). So far we have
over 125 people who are coming, that's a great start but let's really
dwarf that number and absolutely flood the place
!

*** Oh, and bring a camera. ;-) ***

I am keeping a rough count of attendees. If you are coming and have
NOT already done so, send an email to:

FreedomRally@vcdl.org

Make the subject line "YES" with a dash and the number of attendees,
like this: "YES - 4
"

We will NOT read the body of the email itself, but will simply count
attendance by looking at the subject line.

**Please respond ONLY if you are ABLE to attend.**

See you Saturday, October 17th from 2:00 PM to 7 PM!

Bring Brooke if you can. See if she can get school credit for attending (OK, she may have to write something about it :() as an inducement for Little Miss Rock the Vote.

Anyone else that has kids - bring them. If they are old enough to understand, explain why we are protesting the Republical Roundup being held at gun-unfriendly Innsbrook. If they are not old enough to understand the issue bring them anyhow because it will help show that gun owners are not just beer-bellied toothless rednecks with scraggly beards and NASCAR stickers on their pickup trucks.;):D

stay safe.

The number of attendees/participants is looking good, but we need to put this over the top.

Right now, today, this is IMO more important than Lobby Day. Lobby Day is next year, five months away. The VCDL Freedom Rally is here and now - it will greatly impact the elections and our efforts at Lobby Day.

There are things that are planned that will put us on the map - you just won't believe what a grand show this is going to be.

Forget the yard work, shop another day, give this afternoon to the cry to be heard throughout Virginia. VCDL Freedom Rally - Oct 17, 2009 - be there!

I am very seriously thinking about making the Range Day start EARLY AM in Wakefield and END at Lunchtime so I can get up there to Richmond.

I don't want to let down the folks that can only go in OCT because of upcoming deployments to the sandbox and those that have already cleared their schedules for the range...

BUT...

I feel very strongly that I want to be at Innsbrook!

How far is is from Wakefield to this place? Maybe we can start shooting at the range around 0800 and shoot till noon, then head up Rt 460 to the FREEDOM RALLY.

Lunch on the road or sammiches from the planned picnic while driving...

(Going to Copy & Paste this post to the range day thread...)

I-64W, exit at Gaskins Rd exit west onto W. Broad St. or I-64W to Short Pump exit east on Broad. St.

Innsbrook is at intersection of Cox Rd & Broad St. VCDL members wearing orange vests will direct you as you approach the area.

Best guess is that driving time is around 1 1/2 hours. I prefer Rt 60 over I-64 until about Bottoms Bridge. Anybody have better estimate?

Would be great to do both, wouldn't it.
