Some absolutely crazy stuff going on.

"By order of the city of Pittsburgh chief police {sic}, I hereby declare this to be an unlawful assembly. I order all those assembled to immediately disperse. You must leave the immediate vicinity. If you remain in the immediate vicinity, you will be in violation of the Pennsylvania crimes code{sic}, no matter what your purpose is."

"...no matter what your purpose is"? Journalists, prayer circles, sign wavers, all can be summarily declared "in violation" of peaceful assembly and and free speech.

This is being announced on the LRAD ("Long Range Acoustic Device"), a pain compliance device designed to make people run away while clutching their ears in pain (or else suffer serious permanent hearing loss).

There is some serious spin going on in the news. Most news reports talk about thousands of protesters and thousands of police, then go on to mention how rioters smashed windows, etc. The obvious conclusion: police are battling thousands of rioters and trying to protect private property.

Except when you read the actual details, you find the violence was very limited, and only a couple of dozen people were arrested.

I'm the furthest thing, politically speaking, from those who describe themselves as "progressive". As for those violent thugs who call themselves "anarchists", well... they need to buy a better dictionary, and take a look in the mirror at who is trying to rule others by violence.

I don't care: they have the same right to protest that I do, no matter what failed policies they're pushing.
