Jeremy05 - Well take myself for example, I just got laid off last Friday. Just took the class the day after I was laid off because I promised Venator I would be there. But now, being un-enjoyed, money is tight. I have 60 days to come up with the cash to get my CPL certificate turned in here in Kent County (stupid 60 day rule). Now if people want to donate to someone who is in a position like mine, great! I think its a great idea to help others. If I weren't in a tough spot, Id probably be donating.

See I can understand that situation, you are allready 150ish pot committed to a cpl, mind as well follow through. I could get behind that, but on the other hand if I had lost my job, I would put the CPL on hold even if it ment eating 150ish.

That 60day rule is bull crap.

The certificates do not expire so what is this 60 day rule you speak of?

hmm. Could be a misunderstanding of a "rule"

From what I heard you have 60 days to turn in your Certificate or it expires? No such thing?

I'll donate $5 for a CPL class or application to any member with the following credentials, as funds permit:

1) MOC member for 6+ months
2) Contributed 100+ posts.
3) Demonstrates 3+ picnics/events/police encounters/ordinances re-written

ok ok ok . Im missing something here! Sounds like you want to buy someone a cpl? Just gota ask, Why? Can I get reimbursed for mine? Why can't they afford their own? So you can afford a gun, but no CPL? Maybe the gun was a gift? Just seems crazy to buy people a CPL. Maybe Im just cheap! Open Carry! Its free just deal with the annoying having to put it in your trunk till you save your money! You will Appreciate your CPL if you Earn it like everyone else!

Wow!
Jeremy, has it ever crossed your mind that some people may be in some real tough financial times right now?

Should the working poor, or people living near, at, orbelow the poverty level not be able to defend themselves too? Do you support the elitist "You must Pay to Play" theory?

I think it is great that people are donating a dollar or twoandjoining togetherto help someone that is financially strapped get their CPL.

I am not even a Michigan resident, but I am donating to the cause, even though I am stillwondering howI am going to afford to pay for heartworm treatment for the dog I just adopted (anyone know a website where you can report A-holes that abuse animals?)

What goes around comes around, it is just a huge karmic Ferris-wheel we are all stuck riding. Pay it forward, and there is a very good chance you mayreap the returns tenfold.

But Karma also goes the other way too! So please be careful!

The 60 day rule, I was told by our CPL instructor, only applies in Kent County. They are quite anti's apparently. I'm just going on what Ive been told. If its not the case, great but again, Im going on what I was told.

There is no 60 day rule for a certificate. If this is the case let us know and we will deal with it. I have learned that Kent county is more infringing on 2A rights than Wayne, which is a shame because Kent county is know for being Conservative. I have found Kent county and their largest city GR about at gun friendly as Chicago.

I know Jeremy personally and I doubt he's coming from that angle.

He just wants to know whats up is all.

Jeremy, I saw in a post somewhere that he couldn't afford to get a CPL at this time, so I took it upon myself to get it done for him.

Just a nice thing to do is all.

Open carry is free. Of course everyone is entitled to defend themselfs properly. Not everyone needs a CPL, hell nobody NEEDS a cpl for that matter. It merly enhances the OC.

Elitist?!?! lol far far from.

Hey it is one thing to try and get the price of something down that is fine, If you can get the CPL class for half price or free that is great, that is what cost the most to be able to get a CPL anyway. Takeing a hand out for other people to just pay for everything is BS, Millions have paid to get there permit,I am sure you can to,if you cant then dont bother going through the process.

Dude, what the hell is your problem?

BTW: the CPL class was donated by the owner of http://www.micpl.net and also all ammo needed.

Sometimes it's nice to do thing for others.

I think there is alot of truth to this statement. Not in reference to anything Jeremy said but in general. It seems like the counties have set the fees so high to obtain a CPL that they are intentionally trying to exclude poor people. Exercising your second amendment rights should be free in my opinion. I know alot of people who simply don't have the money to pay for classes and the license fees so they simply don't carry. I am slowly trying to educate them on their option to open carry but I believe that having a cpl does make it alot easier. I don't really see how they justify the fees associated with the license. It isn't like a cpl generates that much more work for the counties. I guess price gouging is legal as long as it is a government entity that is doing it.

I dont have a problem, You seriously thik it is cool someone is asking for others to pay for there CPL? I know ofMANY others that had to pay for everything them self. and when I am old enough to get a CPL I will have to pay MYSELF. So I think someone asking others to pay for something is some shite. It is one thing if a CPL instructor is holding free class`s that is cool that guy is cool, but comon pay the other $115 your self.

Help only goes so far, then comes taken advantage.

I kinda get the hostility regarding paying for some strangers CPL. What I don't get is why those who are hostile to the idea, are so darn vocal about it. Seems pretty cut and dry, why the friggin' debate. If you think it's a good cause, you agree with it and can afford it, great, donate. If you disagree with it and think it's zomgosh-socialism here on the MOC board, great, shaddap and don't donate.

Someone is trying to do something nice for Joe, Joe didn't start the fire, er, thread, so why is he being demonized? Pretty petty and childish if you ask me.
