I cant get any strait answers out of any local law enforcement. So I was wondering if it is legal to have a Video camera on my dashboard, for recording video maybe audio but I don't think I can record audio without notifying an officer if they pull me over. Oh this is Majorpain by the way I can't log into my old account. Anyway I was just wondering so if anyone could help me out on this issue I would appreciate it.

Most important- always usethe 4th and 5th Amendment.

    Fast rules for recording:
    1. You arenot doing anything illegal.
    2. You arepart of the conversation.
    3. Recording took place where there was no expectation of privacy.

States that require consent: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington.

I am shocked, you mean you couldn't find even one that wouldn't
tell you you will go to jail? Maybe things are improving.
Rule of thumb, if you catch ACORN erase tape or face the consequences.
Your criminal activity may vary..... Video vs audio seem to be treated
differently, Maryland is illegal for audio but ok for video
But who in there right mind goes there anyways.

I have been told 5 times now I am committing a crime,
haven't been charged yet. What I did is disable the off switch,
then gleefully turn it off to appease the officer. Just like the
detective does in his half of Don't Talk to Police.
It works just as well for our side.

Only problem I can see is if they remove me from my car with my objections
on tape, and then record themselves while I am kept away under color of law.
Can they charge me with receiving the product of their criminal activity,
after all they had GUNS, and planted the evidence in my car over my objections.
At what point does it become a criminal tape?
I have no direct knowledge that they said anything while I am being detained
back at the squad car, so have no knowledge of a crime being committed.

There is only one major danger, and thank god the camera was off,
a little ~3 year old was crossing in front of me saw the camera, and pulled her
dress over her head. It was a Tots Gone Wild moment, LMAO and was oh so
glad the camera was off for that one in todays climate. So I feel safer without
the video, and prefer audio. I do want to add video covering the doors
when I change to electronic entry, it would only engage when the keys are used
to try and gain entry. Want the look on cops face when he can't get in to search
without permission. But that is just for personnel use to get a good laugh,
unless I require stitches that is.:X

There are some great youtube videos in KC I think of a man with camera
getting harassed constantly at checkpoints, and parking lots. Has it behind
his seat so it shows the dash display as well, I love the one showing his turn
signal flashing and later the cop threatening to charge him with weaving
and failure to use his signals. Sad he needs to go to that extent just to protect
himself, the locals must really have it in for him.

Well my biggest problem is here in Riverton, there are two cop's that really liketo do Uturnright in front of me, and cut me off by changing lanes 1 or 2 feet ahead of me. If itwerent for good brakes I would haveT-Boned them In fact I'm really tempted to, but I know they would try to get me with failure to yield or some crap like that. I think theses twodo this on purpose because they don't like me at all, I tend to be a smart...well you know, when it comes down to them trying to pull the super cop intimidation routine.I have gotten awayScott free every encounter I haveaclean driving record, soon.I just want to get some of this crap on video post it all over the net as Riverton's finest. They already give me crap for my police scanner and PA system in my pickup. (that I use in no way to interfere or pretend i'm a police officer.)

(on a separate note there is a female police officer in town that seems to enjoy macing people then ta-zing them while they are already on the ground squirming from pain while she waits for backup or an ambulance. I have sat and watched her do it twice in the last month. maybe the people brought it onto them self's but she scares the crap out me .)

Well I guess you can be "gathering" data for an optical recognition system.
Since google earth does street level pictures to use in their 3d maps, they
can't claim you can't also gather pictures for your own purposes.
Remember video is just a lot of still pictures in sequence.
If you can find the old 'see thru' sonys, you might really get a real funny
beat down on camera. I was just too dense back then, see thru camera,
'why would you expose the film with a clear camera?'. Then they were gone and I
found out it wasn't the camera it was the image. Oh well, live and learn.

Mount holster to camera mount so it is an anti-theft security device.

I understand getting cut off, the last time they caused me to warp my rotors.
Maybe get a set of toyota floor mats for added defense arguments.
