Street fight...humbug....Chicago...pandemonium....wwwwWWWWHHAACKKKK!

The fatal blow is struck at about 0:46 in this video.

If only some law abiding citizen (18-years-old plus)had been legally carrying a gun.....Derrion Albert might still be alive...

We need to get reasonable gun carry laws in Illinois and Chicago.

Video: Teen Attacked, Beaten to Death in Melee
Help Police Find Derrion Albert's Killers

By Darlene Hill, FOX Chicago News

This is the hard lesson some students at Fenger High School have to deal with after a day of learning. For them it's a hard lesson of reality on the streets.

Thursday after school, two rival gangs got into a fight three blocks from the high school.

In all four students were beaten in that melee -- one was released from the hospital Friday morning.

Complete Derrion Albert Coverage:

_____________________________

While police continue their investigation, some students say they don't want to go back to Fenger next week.

Rival gang members have been fighting for a month -- and each time one of their fellow classmates is injured.

No knives and no guns were used in Thursday's fight. Just fists, feet and boards.

Derrion Albert, 16, was struck in the head by one of those boards.

Seconds later the honor student hit the pavement. That’s when witnesses, who are other high school students, say gangbangers began stomping on and punching Albert.

Derrion Albert's mom said witnesses told her he was "trying to help another student and kind of got mixed in with the crowd of the fight and he was hit.”

A senior who witnessed the whole thing says the melee lasted less than five minutes.

The video shows students and workers from a nearby community center rescue the boy -- but many out there knew it was too late.

Surveillance videos are mounted on businesses in the Roseland area, but Chicago Police say those don't show faces.

Police have a copy of this footage and it may help identify Albert's killers.

But while that investigation goes on, students say they will remember Derrion Albert as a good kid. A quiet, smart kid with no gang affiliation. But just a kid who may not have had enough street smarts to go another way.

If you can identify any of the people allegedly involved in the death of Derrion Albert, please call Area Two of the Chicago Police Dept. That number is 312-747-8272.

Pulling a gun in that madness? You would have to be out of your damn mind. My gun is to protect me and my family, I'm not getting involved in a gang fight. This is not a good example for better carry laws.

Nice try HankD. This is a good example of why one should avoid joining a gang. Perhaps a new postulate opportunity for you.

This has nothing to do with guns, or responsible gun ownership.

On the surface it appears that he is just your average Darwin award recipient but apparently, he is an innocent who was caught in the melee between the animals.

How many kids were more interested in filming the incident instead of calling 911? Exactly what did you see that justified you getting involved and using deadly force? It likely would not have been obvious to someone across the street or down the road that an individual was being brutalized.

I certainly wouldnot wish to spend my life in prison just because I stepped into the middle of a group fight. By the point that there was "a boy who was getting beaten by several others", the fight had gone on a while. By the time you would step in to his defense, it was too late.
It is too bad that these little animals have no respect for themselves, each other or human life in general.

I am sure there was quite a few that were armed in the vicinity, But not legally since Shitcago and several of its suburbs have an outight ban on any legal handgun ownership.

Lets take a look at the hellish waysthat city has decended into. the US Postal service (not rain sleet or snow will stop them, but violent southsiders sure did) has quit delivering to a few neighborhoods due to the violence and crime, many private ambulancecompanies refuse to service many parts of the city. Firefighter/EMT's need police escorts to go on calls so they can have an armed security team covering them.

the Daley dynasty has effectively disarmed everyone but the criminals. And this is what hapens when nobody has a way to defend themselves. brawls likethe one shown in the videomost likely happen multiple times per day in that city. This one just happened to have a videographer nearby to catch the action, and a kid that was still in school was involved.

The previous governor tried to get the national guard to step in and try to calm the violent natives several times over the last few years, but Daley would not allow it. I think he wants the city to be exactly the way it is for some sick reason.

My last timein shitcago, I saw stuff I thought only existed in the movies! it was quite an eye opener and made me glad I live far away from that war-zone.
Give it another few years and the place will most likely look like Beruit!

Well, I would agree that after the melee was in full swing that its chaotic.

But the sight of grownups walking around, say, OCing legally, would do a lot to prevent these situations from getting started.

Remember, OC deters crime. Guns save lives.

And an armed society is a polite society. Derrion Albert would still be alive if there were more politeness in his neighborhood.

Actually, "tough" neighborhoods like the one involved should be among the first locations for law abiding citizens to be carrying--both OC and CC. We need to have ALL law-abiding adults carrying in ALL locations where order is needed.

Even on the south side of Chicago...

There were no adults to be seen at all, especially the absent parents in the lives of these young animals. It is the responsibility of the adults in these neighborhoods to take control of it. Open Carry and neighborhood watch and patrol programs are a part of being responsible adults. Once again I will bring up pepper spray. While you could not justify firing your handgun into a crowd of kids, pepper spray could be used in the spirit of self defense without the severe consequences on both sides.

If you dial 911 in Chicago, [maybe] the Chicago Police Department shows up.

What's the point of summoning additional violent criminals to a gang fight?

NOBODY trusts or respects the Chicago PD, including its own members.

The gangs and the Chicago PD are just different parts of the same profoundly corrupt system, atop of which Dick Daley sits drooling, like Jabba the Hut. And Daley has the residents of Chicago on a chain like Princess Leia. The only difference is that unlike the Princess, they actually LIKE it.

Is not pepper spray banned in Chicago?

Dick Daley, his henchmen and the Chicago PD view the Black community as a game preserve, and the residents as game animals. They don't really see a problem when the "lions" take a few "antelope" from time to time. They're protected from the "lions".

So are handgunss but we are discussing a more ideal legislative atmosphere where both would be legal. Additionally, electric stun type weapons should also be universally legal for those not otherwise prohibited from carrying weapons.

I'm not sure what you're asking, UP.

What do you mean?

Actually, they were railroad ties, not "boards". Instead of the Three Stooges, think of James Arness as the monster in the "The Thing from Another World". That was the image I immediately had when I saw that cur hit the kid. Maybe Daley's growing thousands more like him, nourished on human blood. In a metaphorical sense, nothing could be closer to the truth.

I say leave it be !! the Parents and adults of these types of communities are responsible for the fruits of this Harvest! 1 or 2 gunshots fired into the air would've most likely broken up the crowd before it escalated to someone dieing, But the adults and parents responsible for propagating these punks are fully aware that their offspring are out of control and continue to let it nurture from day to day.. This is what our government needs to keep the tiers of society in place, there's got to be the bottom of the barrel for the rest of the tiers to maintain a status.

There will always be an hierarchy of individuals, of 'races' and of cultures, no matter how vehemently the politically correct deny the implicit hierarchy of human capabilities. There are elites at both ends of the continuum that contains the muddled dumb masses in the middle.

Railroad ties!!? I don't think there is a man on earth that can swing a railroad tie like baseball bat. Give me a break.
