Fellow Washingtonians,
Hi there, I'm new to this site, but not the issue of carrying firearms. My desire is to see folks feeling less threatened by the sight of an armed citizen. My belief is that folks are instantly nervous because it is something that they don't see every day, so they let their minds wander to every negative event that involves firearms.
My thought process leads me to wonder if people saw others legally carrying firearms more often, they would not feel instantly threatened. I heard a comparison given to me by a friend that is a little politically incorrect, but I believe it to paint a picture of accuracy. People don’t see guns all the time, so it makes them nervous. "While I don’t see midgets (short people) everyday, they do exist legally, but that doesn’t mean I should freak out or stare when I do see one.” Again, just because it is not commonplace, does not mean that it is wrong.
I know I’m preaching to the choir here. What I am looking for is user feedback or suggestions to help change the situation we are currently facing where firearms and the2nd Amendment are demonized in “polite society”.
Any positive ideas as to how we can visibly and effectivelytake back our Bill of Rights? Specifically, the 2nd?
