ok so this morning I went back to read the sign. It is not as what was reported.
It says (give or take) "all firearms transactons must take place inside the building. People completing transactions in the parking lot may be prosecuted for tresspassing"
My guess is that the owners of the Expo Center understand that people will be bringing guns into/out of the building but they do not want people lingering around outside with their guns, trying to set up shop and sell them in the parking lot....almost like a gun free zone which I suppose is their right on their private property. There's a big sewing convention in the other building so I imagine they dont want to frighten the little old ladies.
In either case, I dont see it as a big deal.
It's not a big deal.
All the screaming meemies (e.g., T-shirt man Citizen) took off on the word "transfers" and start spouting constitutional infringement.....like they usually do...what drivel...
It's simply an effort to organize the chaos that sometimes occurs outside the venue in the parking lot and accessways....where gun sellers/buyers shout and joust for deals in an unorganiezed fashion. I've seen sellers just park in the parking lot, open up their trunk containing dozen arms and do the instant gun shop routine. Very gauche, actually.
On occasion, at gun shows I've gone too, the venue management has gotten stricter and advised that private sales must be completed inside the venue....and I've just, uhm, moved inside and completed my purchase or sale. No big deal.
Some people have no concern for the sensibilties of others in the area of the almighty gun transaction zone.
Let's use a little common sense, Citizen, et al., no matter how hard it is for you....I mean, give the venue (and the gun show's fellow tenants, i.e, sewing convention) a break...
Unfettered private gun sales are important--but we still have to co-exist with other entities at the gun show site. Let's be polite and accomodating while excercising one aspect of a our 2nd Amendment freedoms.
