It's the first time I've watched COPS on TV since I've been learning the laws and constitutional rights and whatnot.

I'm totally blown away at all the stuff they do wrong!!!

Day and night...

Good cops don't make for good TV ("good TV" as defined by the networks). Viewers don't care (and generally don't know) if a few rules are bent (or outright broken) as long as the crackhead makes a scene and the men in blue take him down in an amusing fashion.

It just amazes me as to how much they violate peoples constitutional rights because they don't know them... and if they had the video and knowledge of the laws, they could have their charges dismissed.

It's like... our justice system does whatever they want in hopes to make some money from the people without knowledge or the funds to hire an attorney.

Tell me I'm wrong. Please...

I'm not a big fan of that show myself, it's very selective what they show, only that which turns out well for the cops doing the chasing. I'm sure there's been cases where the perps got away, or other things to make it less watchable. It gives a very slanted view of police work I'd guess, it's not all chases and felony takedowns there's lots of time spent being bored, drinking cold coffee and answering stupid calls from stupid people.

And people do little to stop them which is why they do it. :banghead: I don't know how many times I have heard " well they did it so it must me right. "... :cuss:
