Spotted this on MSNBC this morning:

I'm increasingly frustrated by people insisting that I need to be "saved" from myself. I've always felt that education, not mechanical appliances, are the key to keeping your kids safe when you've got guns in the house. Locking them up virtually guarantees that it won't be ready when you really need it.

    My 2 cents worth...

I agree, wonder how many gun owners who's house was broken into that found themselves in that exact situation. "oh crap, gotta get my gun unlocked from upstairs" As gun owners we need to take it upon ourselves to keep the guns from kids and from anyone who does break in when we are not home. There are ways to do this without locking them away. I have many and it becomes habit at the end of the dayto secure them in a fashion that they are not easily found by anyone but the wife and I but at the same time accessable when we need them.
