Multnomah County Sheriff's Office was really friendly when I asked for mine. I was a part of a privatesecurity detailand that might have made a difference. Again, they were friendly to me and to my coworkers.

Here's the link. Good luck!

As I said, very friendly staff. Ran into silly little issuesin the county directly East (I wont name names...) Our detail was detained for looking suspicious. Yes, we had liased with them several weeks ahead of time and continued up till the event. They didn't like all the similar looking (Rental) SUV's cruising along I-84.

Sorry, venting...

Again, good luck!

My father in law applied in Hood River because he has family there but they turned him down – and his brother in law is the Fire Chief!

I applied to Washington County and was accepted. I don't know what minimum requirements they have for out of state, as I provided both family and business interest in Washington County. Very friendly people there, and Rob Gordon the sheriff in charge of the CPL dept seems to be a very standup guy.

One tough thing about Oregon CPL is that if your address changes, your CPL is invalid until you update your address. And you must appear in person to change the address, not by mail even for nonresident CPLs, and that department is open only M-F.

But of course it's still very much worth it =)
