I mean really. I thought this was common knowledge.

Shooting one-hole groups at hundreds of yards on a windy day with rain is so (yawn) boring. As is small birds or flying insects at distances under 9/10ths of a mile.

At least when you have toshoot both the BB gun and the handgun at the other projectile, you get something resembling a minimal challenge.

Sheesh.

Right. Did you guys see the latest Mythbusters episode where they took on the myth that a bullet shot and a bullet dropped will hit the ground at the same time. It was a timing nightmare, because they wanted to get a shot of the bullets hitting the same spot on the ground. Super cool. A must see.

I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds good.

The theory is absolutely correct, but the practical application is almost impossible to set up. For starters, it's impossible to fire a gun parallel to the earth's surface, because the earth isn't flat. It's a sphere, and spheres have tangents, not parallels.

Yes, but they did get damn close. Something like 30 miliseconds apart.

It looks like debris, not particularly BB's.

Looked to me like it could have been a shotgun pellet rather than a BB and is where the debris came from. Either way it was a nice picture and shot. The company specializes in high speed cameras and photography so they have all kinds of gizmos to trigger timing etc. Amazing what you can do if you have the money.

I didn't see that episode now could the 30 miliseconds be because the bullet has a further fall due to the curve of the Earth. When building larger building in the pastcontractors actually have to take that into consideration.

Interesting vid, and it might have some value if presented as a serious piece with info on bullet type, caliber, powder charge, weapon, rifling twist, ID of target material etc. instead of that lukey techno "music" that sounded like the background from a Martian lesbian porno vid.

What would REALLY be helpful would be to flouroscope a side of pork and photograph bullet channels through the flesh, which is much like human flesh and would I think provide bettter info than "ballistic Gel" can. This here vid probaably gets a lot of views from stoned kiddies.
