HUDSON, Wis. - A TEA Party set for Hudson later this month will feature hot drinks and political speeches -- and guns.

TEA stands for Taxed Enough Already, and the Hudson Open Carry TEA Party is scheduled for Oct. 17 in Lakefront Park. Organizers tout it as a picnic to celebrate their rights to demonstrate and to carry arms.

Events aimed at exercising the First and Second amendments have sprung up across Wisconsin since Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said in April that citizens have a constitutional right to openly carry firearms.

Organizers in Hudson say all of the other events have been peaceful. But at least one store owner plans to put up a sign banning the guns inside her shop.

Police Chief Marty Jensen says he does not plan to increase police patrols for the event.
