History of Concealed Carry - Looking for info on how

"Only outlaws conceal their weapons."

I used to have a bit of information about how ONLY the open carrying of arms was accepted (as in the 1800s), but can't locate it.

Attempted a bit of a search here and on the Web, but no good.

Could anyone shed some light in this area of history?

I suggest you read Clayton Cramers' excellent essay, "The Racist Roots of Gun Control." It sheds some light on the ugly history of gun laws. A google search will turn it up at several websites and it only takes a few minutes to read on-line.
