Not daily, but I was just up at Cabela's in Scarborough a few days ago.

I got some crazy looks from their employees, but none of the customers seemed to mind. Seems to me, if you're really nervous or uncomfortable around guns, the firearm department isn't where you should be working... I've never seen someone's eyes get that big at the sight of my holstered handgun.

But anyway, my usual area is a bit farther south, in the Portsmouth NH area.

yeah haha, the firearms people there .......should work in fishing or something, there is one guy, tall skinny in his 40's............if you mention a pistol other than a glock he goes on the offensive and basicaly insults the crap out of you, and half the used weapons i've bought there dont work *eyeroll*

Maine really needs to get into the swing of OC, the town i live in "saco" is very OC friendly, the chief of police is a lifetime NRA member, and all the sergants know the OC laws so its a great place.............if only someone would do it here other than me :-p haha

    Cool.

Although, as the weather gets colder and my clothing get bulkier, I'll probably be OC'ing less, and CC'ing more.

OC seems difficult with a heavy sweatshirt or jacket...

hence why i used a old LEO duty holster lol the part that goes through the belt is seperate and connects at the bottom of the holster, that way with a thick jacket or sweatshirt, i can slide the clothing through the belt latch, and the holster and still carry

well, I mean besides the fact that they are ********** haha... thats illegal! Maine is an open carry state, it's a maine state law... a town can't just get up and say ope, we don't agree with this so when you cross this line we're going to f you... that doesn't happen.

Yeah, I just heard recently that Maine police can search your car for practically any reason. That's nuts.
Here in the free state of NH, an LEO can't search your vehicle unless he has either a search warrant or your permission.

As for that other guy, I don't think he was officially arrested because of his firearm. I thought I had read that he was in violation of some "dangerous knife" statute.

    Cite please.

They tried to charge him for carrying a concealed knife, because he had a box cutter in his pocket. The DA threw the case out when it got to court.

I got arrested a while back for excessively speeding in Portland (yeah I have a lead foot) and had to make a quick run to the cumberland county jail to give them $40 and leave. But I got a nice escort in a cruiser, and when they patted me down, they didn't even noticed the 3" Gerber folding knife clipped to my pocket. I forgot it was there because I carry it everyday, and didn't remember until I was in the secure area where they ask you for all your info.

I told the cop about it and he got all pissed off and gave me the same "trafficking in dangerous weapons" bullsh*t line until I politely reminded him that I was patted down by 2 of Portland's "finest" and they didn't see the shiny belt clip. I suggested to him that they get better training. I also told him that I knew the laws and my rights and that the trafficking was b.s. and he shut up in a hurry. I also got it back when i left an hour later

Maine - Chapter. 43 17-A Section 1055. Trafficking in dangerous knives:
    1. A person is guilty of trafficking in dangerous knives, if providing
he has no right to do so, he knowingly manufactures or causes to be manufactured, or knowingly possesses, displays, offers,
sells, lends, gives away or purchases any knife which has
a blade which opens automatically by hand pressure applied
to a button, spring or other device in the handle of the
    knife,
(switchblade) or any knife having a blade which opens or falls or
is ejected into position by the force of gravity, or by an
outward, downward or centrifugal thrust or movement.
    (butterfly knife)
2.Trafficking in dangerous knives is a Class D crime.

exactly, so any knife that you can open with the flick of your thumb, wrist , or the use of gravity is illegal in teh state of maine..........wich is BS cause i can grab the blade of a buck knife and flip it open, same with box cutter, even a straight razor to shave my face with.............i can see why switchblades, ballisongs *butterfly* and paratrooper knives may be illegal..........but heck a $1 bucket special talon 1.5" blade can be opened with one hand lol
