Norfolk police search for man in connection to June motel shooting

Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who is wanted on several charges and may be connected to a fatal shooting at a Military Highway motel.

Antonio Alphonso Lee, 27, is wanted on two charges of use of a firearm, attempted robbery, malicious wounding and armed burglary, a news release from Norfolk police said. Investigators also believe Lee may be connected to the shooting incident that occurred on June 11 at the Econo Lodge, 865 N. Military Highway.

The news release from Karen Parker-Chesson, Norfolk police spokeswoman, did not say whether the charges Lee faces are related to the Econo Lodge incident or something unrelated.

In the Econo Lodge incident, police said a motel guest was shot in the stomach and chest while wrestling with an armed assailant. But that motel guest was also armed and fatally shot both his assailant and a second man beating another motel guest with a chair. The Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney concluded in September that the two guests would not face any charges because it was determined their actions were justified.

Police said that on June 11 at about 2:15 a.m. the two motel guests were cooking on a portable grill outside their room when Dante F. Cooley, 22, of Virginia Beach, Trevor L. Pauley, 20, of Norfolk, and a third man passed by. One guest took the grill inside to the other who was waiting inside, but the trio forced their way in with a handgun.

The two guests defended themselves and two fights broke out. The guest fighting with Pauley pulled out his own gun and as they struggled and fired, the guest was shot in the stomach and chest and Pauley in the arms and forehead.

The wounded guest then shot Cooley in the back as he assaulted the second guest on the floor. The third intruder, who had been in the bathroom area, emerged unharmed with his hands up and the wounded guest told him to leave. He did.

Coley and Pauley’s mothers have said they don’t believe the official account.

LOL big surprise there. Ibet they have no explanation what their little angels were doing at that motel in the first place.
I'm sure you are aware that such a logical inquiry would have absolutely no relevancy, what so ever, to the mothers.

I am so suprised they didnt make the statement that they were " turning their lives around" like other family members of predators say.
