Senators Baucus and Tester Vote for Confirmation
(Columbus) – Last night the sportsmen’s community came within five votes of stopping the nomination of Cass Sunstein to serve as the head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), otherwise known as the “Regulatory Czar.” Sunstein is an avowed anti hunter and does not believe the second amendment applies to individual gun ownership.

While a confirmation vote took place today, it was a formality after the Senate voted to over-ride a hold placed on the nomination by Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson. It would have taken 40 votesto prevent the confirmation. Opponents of Sunstein were only able to earn 35. Alarmingly 22 out of 53 senators who are members of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus voted in favor of Sunstein.

"Having 42 percent of the sportsmen's caucus vote for an anti-hunter when were justfive votes away was a real blow,” said Bud Pidgeon, USSA president and CEO.“As we have, sportsmen should take note which of their ‘friends’ voted for them and which did not.”

Democratic Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester are two sportsmen's caucus members that voted for Sunstein.

“We were very disappointed in how our senators voted given the fact that Sunstein’s views and values are clearly not in line with Montana’s rich outdoor heritage and history of ranching and agriculture.” stated Mac Minard, executive director of the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association.

The USSA and others argued for weeks that Sunstein’s views against recreational hunting, the second amendment and ongiving animals standing in court should persuade the Senate to defeat the appointment.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance is a national association of sportsmen and sportsmen’s organizations that protects the rights of hunters, anglers and trappers in the courts, legislatures, at the ballot, in Congress and through public education programs. For more information about the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance and its work, call (614) 888-4868 or visit its website, http://www.ussportsmen.org.

First Edit to correct from JPFO to JFPO.

Second Edit to add in what I overlooked - AKTI and Knife Rights Org's and trapping license.

A democrat is a democrat, when the chips are down they side with the leftist loons that run that criminal organization.

Forgive me if I lost the context of your posting Idaho Cowboy, but I really don't understand.

What does"not being a Jew"have to do with gun rights or Open Carry? Some of the most vocal gun rights advocates are Jewish.

I stated I was a member of JPFO in my post above.

Over the years, some have asked if I am Jewish since I am a member of JPFO - my Answer - No I am not, one does not have to be Jewish to be a member JPFO, but I wish everyone was as outspoken as the JPFO for being PRO2A.

No disrespect intended at all. I wish everyone who own an ARM (gun or tomahawk orknifeor any otherweapon) was a member of the JPFO.

Sorry I didn't understand Cowboy. I understand now. I agree about JPFO. No compromise with gun grabbers there.
