heh i've had a walmart employee say he wont sell me ammo if i have a loaded gun on me at the same of sale. I tried explaining that I couldn't load the ammo that I was buying into my gun...because its already full of ammo, and wouldn't fit, so there was no possability of the risk he was trying to protect against.

Is NV open carry?

If you click on the "Maps" button above (and slightly to the left), then click on the State of Nevada, you should be able to resolve your question pretty quick!

(or click here:http://www.opencarry.org/nv.html)

However, It seems that OC on the strip will get you into an encounter with LVMPD. Good luck!

Carry On!

Nevada is open carry. I do so all the time. No airport carry, no park carry, no k-12 carry, no carry in posted public building, no carry at daycare center. Now, having said that, there is reasonable argument on some of these places, but you will be confronted and there will likely be anarrest. As far as the strip goes, in the past and maybe still you could be hassled, but Metro is now supposedly going through training telling them they can't do that. You also might get confronted by security at the big casinos.

At that point the doorman freaked out and got right in my face (like 6" away) and said I NEED TO CHECK YOUR WEAPON.I told the doorman to back up and not get so close to me.He didnt move.So i took a few steps back. The doorman then started saying that i needed accw in order to carry a loaded handgun. I tryed to inform him on the laws about OC, but he said NO NO NO YOU NEED A CCW.Thenhe got right in my faceagain and said i was doing the most stupid thing carrying around a loaded gun and not letting them check it. I then raised my voice and told him toget away from me, Itold him i dont trust him being so close to me and to back up. He didnt move. I then took another few steps back and told him im done arguing withhimabout this. He then yelled at me"well i can stop you, but you are doing the most stupid thing.
...

I agree that it's really a BAD behavior to get into someone's face (6" away). There's no cause for that.

OTOH, there is so little chance that the doorman wanted to inflict severe bodily injury or kill you that the altercation pretty much has to be resolved with only words or movement away from the doorman.

This type of behavior calls for a formal complaint against the doorman. I gotta think that there is video of the interaction--and that would be very conclusive in showing the doorman's agression.

Good job in keeping your cool. It's definitely better to back away than to get into a physical exchange with a non-threat that will unduly complicate your life.

I copied the OP's post and e mailed it to Bass Pro with the question about their policy. I'll let you know if I hear back from them. This shit pisses me off. Everybody should write Bass Pro and express your concern. Door man getting in your face? We all know thats not gonna work out well.

Haha, I had the exact same thing with a Walmart counterperson at the location on Northern Ave. some time ago. If I had wanted to do something retarded in there, why would I not just use the 27 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 180gr I had on me and loaded vs. the crappy Federal range fodder I was attempting to purchase?

Some folks just aren't too smart and think that as long as they're going against the MWAG, they're in the right AND helping to create some kind of safe zone or something. *shrug* I miss Darwin =(

Somewhere out there on the innerwebzs, there's a tale I once read of a man who stopped at Wal-Mart on his lunch hour to buy a shotgun. The sporting goods clerk and manager were apologetic that it was "policy" that they carry the shotgun all the way out to his car and place it in the trunk.

The trunk of his marked police cruiser, that is. While he was in full uniform. On his lunch break from the local PD.

 :banghead:

Check my weapon?! I would have looked down at it, and said to him: "looks fine to me". Trigger lock?! So what? You can look like a fumbling idiot if someone gets froggy and decides to rob the store while your in there? Duh! Big Duh! Shell game alert!: They give you your rights, on their property, then restrict them. I might have asked that store chump; So you gonna defend me if the shooting starts in here?
