MADISON (WKOW) -- Some Wisconsin lawmakers want people accused or convicted of domestic violence to be stripped of their right to carry a firearm.

Senator Lena Taylor and Representatives Penny Bernard Schaber and Tony Staskunas announced their bills at a press conference in at Capitol on Wednesday.

The measure would be in line with federal law.

The Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence supports the plan, which would take guns away from people with restraining orders for domestic violence. The group says 156 people were killed with guns in the last two years in domestic violence situations.

Is there any info on how many of those 156 shootings were self-defense against the aggressor w/ restraining order versus how many were the aggressor doing the shooting?

Well then, there is always the option of carrying a baseball bat. It was done in Walking Tall.

It's just so damn fricken unnerving hearing about all these laws to be set when what is currently on the books doesn't work! Why not use a bigger funnel, and eventually we will get the bad guy.

The problem is that even these laws are abused.
The police in many cases will simply arrest someone for DA even with the knowledge that the individuals were simply having a verbal argument.

While the officers have the discretion as to whether or not to arrest, they simply just arrest instead.

There are many people in the jails simply because they did not agree with their spouse over some family debt, a TV show or something else equally insignificant.

The fact is the police can simply check out the call, insure there are no injuries or fighting going on and warn the individuals. The officer can, if he so desires write a report as to why he believes no arrest was necessary and submit it to the DA's office.

Either way, arrest or not they should write a report. They just chose to make an arrest simply because they can and nothing more. It is an abuse of authority and ruins many lives.

The Lautenburg act. People are prohibited persons for yelling at their wife on the phone , or throwing a crumpled up piece of paper at her.

Wait until they start coming out with exemptions for LEO's. DV is unfortunately common with police spouses.
The old vampire Lautenberg came up with one more way to disarm otherwise law abiding citizens. What makes DV so much more serious than other misdemeanors of violence? If someone assaults their "partner" that seriously, then they should be charged with felonies.

Then you search for it. I looked at Democrap Taylor's activities and am still dirtied by that leftist statist dreck. Utterly amazing. No wonder we suffer the Obamination.
