MADISON (WKOW) -- Some Wisconsin lawmakers want people accused or convicted of domestic violence to be stripped of their right to carry a firearm.
Senator Lena Taylor and Representatives Penny Bernard Schaber and Tony Staskunas announced their bills at a press conference in at Capitol on Wednesday.
The measure would be in line with federal law.
The Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence supports the plan, which would take guns away from people with restraining orders for domestic violence. The group says 156 people were killed with guns in the last two years in domestic violence situations.
