Thisquestion is probably more related to CC than OC, andyes Ihave a CHP.

I occasionally attend meetings in a building where DHS leases space on a few floors. There is public access to an upper floor where the metal detectors are located, and we require DHS escorts once clearing those metal detectors. There are no signs indicating any restrictions on firearms. I don't know if there are distinctions between something like this as a"government"building and a "public" building.

Do any of you know whether the law would permit any sort of carry in this situation? My hunch is that DHS can claim "private property" and forcemeeting attendeesto checktheir rights at the door. :X

No carry allowed in buildings where govt. employees regularly work. I'd guess that if DHS has offices just on specific floors that would apply to just those floors.

I'm too tired to pull up the citation from CFR.

stay safe.

So they lease a few floors, and only have the metal detectors on those floors once you leave the elevators? I would think that the federal property gun ban only applies to the actual area they lease, not the whole building.
