I was told it was legal by M1Gunr a while agao, but does someone have a reference for the law on it??? Unless I am completely blind, I didnt see anything about it in Title 9.....god i just need to order a copy of Workman's book already...lol

Actually it is simple: State Park=State Law. There is no law against it so it is legal. Please remember that these are family area's so you do not want to cause anyone alarm. A 45 in a holster, under your jacket is O.K. . But please no "Black Guns" slung on your back.

thanks guys, i have no problems carrying in there. but a friend of mine is going on a camping trip to state park land and said he wouldnt bring a pistol until i could show him a law that said he would be legal. in other words, he wouldnt take my word for it.

It would be hard to find a law that says something is legal. Laws almost exclusively take away rights/say what is illegal. Whatever's not mentioned is generally considered legal.

  • Since OpenCarry is legal and needs no license. He could conceal carry and still be legal according to RCW 9.41.060.
    The provisions of RCW 9.41.060 shall not apply to:

    (8) Any person engaging in a lawful outdoor recreational activity such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or horseback riding, only if, considering all of the attendant circumstances, including but not limited to whether the person has a valid hunting or fishing license, it is reasonable to conclude that the person is participating in lawful outdoor activities or is traveling to or from a legitimate outdoor recreation area;

    (9) Any person while carrying a pistol unloaded and in a closed opaque case or secure wrapper

looks like its all squared up guys, thanks for the responses. it is now up to him if he chooses to carry or not, though he was leaning towards it. he just was unaware if any state laws prohibited it. i had heard from others it was legal, but he wanted more than just my word about it. he is a cpl holder, so no worries there.
