It bothers me when people talk proudly of killing, murdering, instilling fear, and wading through rivers of blood in the name of God and country. I'm not sure the thought, "Yeah, I'm a killing machine! Awesome!" goes through a marine's head the first time he pulls the trigger and ends a life up close and personal.

War is a necessary evil. It's not a matter of pride, not a matter of honor, it's something that happens in a dark place - something you try to forget, something that changes you, and not for the better.

I'm no hippie - I'm glad our troops are fighting to keep us free - I just hope that someday we won't need them anymore.

That was really well done. People will take what they will from anything that they are exposed to.

What may inspire one may anger another.

I like the cleverness of the song, don't nessasarily enjoy the swearing in it, but I overall I like the song. not for the lyrics but for the positive feeling in it.

Take what you will.

Thanks for posting this.

Ugh. Disgusting. That is not who I am, and definitely not anyone I'd want to be.

edit: though gross as it is, it is a damn catchy tune.

then you are fortunate (indeed we ALL are) that there ARE people like that who are willing to fight on your behalf. who was it who said we can all sleep well at night because rough men are willing to do violence in our stead? orwell?

seriously, to all the nay-sayers, would you rather our troops, of EVERY generation, sat around the night before a battle they knew they might not see the end of singing kumbyah & talking about their feelings?

as long as we have ANY semblance of freedom, there will always be war, and so we will always have need of those who ARE the embodyment of this song, even if only during the fight.

I don't feel fortunate to have thinly veiled bigots stealing my money and using it to commit genocide in my name, but to each his own.

War tends to imply government, and government is the opposite of freedom. It's more like, "As long as we have ANY semblance of war, there will never be freedom."

Who was it who said, "They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety?" Franklin?

Eric Blair, whom the "rough men" quote is mis-attributed to, was, by the way, a democratic socialist. Way to pull a misquote from a socialist to support the existence of the US Military!

In actuality, he stated that in order for men to be highly civilized, less civilized men must be present to defend and feed them, as if self-defense or hunting (or gardening) were somehow un-civilized. Do you believe self-defense or food gathering are uncivilized activities?

Ya know out of all the fire fights i was in i can honestly say that if i didnt kill the 73CC i had then they would have had 73 times to kill me, So i say kill your enemy because if you dont he may just kill you.....

I proudly served 8 years in the Corps and i buried alot of my brothers over those 8 years and i can honestly say that i have no love or simpothy for someone who plants a bomb in the ground like a coward!!!!!

Given the chance id go back and do it all over again and die if need be to protect the man next to me.:cuss:
