Place: Nick's Laguna Beach (click for map & directions), Laguna Beach, Orange County, California

Date & Time: Saturday, November 7th, 9:30 AM.

Come and join us for breakfast at Nick's in Laguna Beach. After breakfast we will spend the day in downtown Laguna Beach. Everyone is encouraged to Unloaded Open Carry, but you are not required to. If you are not able to attend early for breakfast, that is fine as well, as we will be in the downtown area for most of the day and you should not have any problem meeting up with the group. See the end of the post for instructions.

If you are able, please print out the educational pamphlets that are available on the California forum here to hand out to curious inquirers. We always hand out a ton of them at the meets and it never seems that we have enough. Please also be aware of the applicable transportation laws and any applicable gun-free school zones. That information is available on this forum as well as http://www.californiaopencarry.org

This thread is a companion to the monthly UOC meet thread. I am posting a separate thread so that the location & date properly show up in the forum index.

If you plan to attend the meet, please post either in this thread or the monthly meet thread so that we have an idea of how many will be attending. If you would like a contact cell phone number in case you get lost or are late to the meet, please post your request in this thread and I will private message you with the number. I look forward to seeing you all there. Carry on!

Not to throw sand on your beach event, but the link says the restaurant does not open until 11am on Saturday. Did you make any special arrangements with Nick's management?

The Yelp page is wrong. Click through to the actual website for the restaurant. They are open at 8 AM for breakfast on the weekends.

She can carry the video camera :)

I'm tentative for this event... I'm near the 405/55 interchange and I'm hoping my car is running by the time this event rolls around. I can take 1 passenger if anyone is interested.

Coming from San Diego. I will be there. Are we good on the K-12 situation as far as we know? Thank you.

There are schools in the area, but there are a couple of blocks along the coastthat are free and clear. You need to conduct your own research!

I recommend using Google Earth and turning on the school layer in the following menu...Layers...Places of Interest...Schools.

PCH and Cliff Dr are clear, stay north of Legion St and west of Goff St.

Coolusername said he did a google earth search for schools and everything is kosher.

Everybody attending a meetup and open carrying needs to conduct their own research. I cannot stress this enough. While I try to make sure our area is in the clear, I do stress this fact...in the end you are entirely responsible for your own actions and research.

It's very easy...if you don't have Google Earth, download it. Once up and running turn on the Schools feature. You do this by turning on the Sidebar in the View menu. Then navigate to Layers...Places of Interest...Schools. Click the little box next to Schools. To make sure you see all the schools in an area be sure to zoom in a little, if viewing from too high not all schools are visible.

I can't download google earth because it violates Greengum code 24.412.112 "Though shall not download anything unless it has to do with porn."

It's from one of those "driving on the ground" satellites.

How disappointing it is to receive a PM last nightfrom a member of this board to inform me that he/she only solo UOC's, and will not participate in group public relations events. I mean, it's not like keeping the fact that one is a gun owner a private affair, which I understand fully. But whether one does UOC solo or in a group, oneIS going to be noticed.

Oh well, the response thus far from Orange CountyUOC'ers who monitor this boardto the November 7 events can only be viewed as either also disappointing, or, perhaps an indication of the lack of knowledge of the existance of this board on the part of Orange County residents, a situation hopefully remedied by . . . frequent and visible UOC events, perhaps?

That's interesting. Many UOC only in a group and not solo because of they think there is safety in numbers. I would be interested in knowing more about this person's rationale for UOCing solo only.

LOL! Actually G.Earth has a "Street View" feature that shows pics of just about anywhere from street level. Thousands of people went driving around America taking a gazillion or so photo's of streets. The Google people put them all together. It's possible you can view your street, house, car.....or g-stringed wife...on G.Earth.

I've cruised nearly all of New York City, and will soon be branching out into the Burroughs.

Google has cars that drive around with a camera array on top. I saw one in Modesto a few months ago, had a Google Earth sticker on the door, and about 10 cameras in a big circle (facing outward) mounted on the roof. From what I can tell from the "street view" feature, it appears they take pictures every 50-100 feet or so.

(Wish I could remember where exactly I saw that car so I can see myself on Google Earth. One of these days when I'm bored, I'll have to e-cruise Modesto...)
