San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom abandoned his bid for the Democratic nomination and withdrew from the California governor’s race due to family and work responsibilities, he announced on Friday.
Let's hope the rest quit too.
By "the rest" do you mean democrats? Check out the Calguns 2nd Amendment forums. Jerry Brown is the only candidate for governor who is pro-gun, and is also a democrat.

By the rest I mean the rest of the victim disarmers. There are no parties in my mind. You either want law-abiding citizens to live, or die.

Would be cool if the election was a race between Brown and McClintock.

My gut feeling is that it will be Brown vs Whitman.

That would definitely leave me torn. Our state needs another fiscal liberal like we need a hole in the head and Whitman seems like a good fit in that area. But on the other hand Whitman's only 2A track record is the anti-gun ebay and paypal policies.

I'm always torn between (D) and (R). One side wants to take away our guns and money and implement socialism. The other side wants a little less of our money (but still WAY too much), and has a terrible record when it comes to civil rights (e.g. any topic other than gun control).

Unfortunately, it seems both parties want to regulate our private lives WAY too much. Lately, I'm not sure which is the lesser of the two evils.

However, in the case of a tie, I'd have to say I'll vote for my right to self defense. If the guy I elect lets me keep my guns, maybe I can defend myself when he wants to infringe on my civil rights...

Party loyalty is pure bunk.

100% of the current pa(R)ty in CA was in on the largest state tax increase in our nation's history that took place this year. I have zero faith that this will change in the legislative branch, and given the lips only response from the pa(R)ty on the national scale, I little faith in the GOP getting anything good done.

Now that the GOP has discarded all but the hollow implication that they don't like tax hikes and fiscal irresponsibility, all they have left is gay bashing and guns. Here's to Whitman cleaning house if she wins, but if not at least Brown isn't in bed with the Brady bunch.

I also don't see Whitman being anti-gun on the legislative front. My impression was that the anti-gun policies of ebay and paypal were business decisions to avoid expensive and complicated regulation. For an corporation like ebay, firearms would be a large yoke for small cargo.
