Yeah, I am the dumb new guy, and I can use context to figure out what most acronyms on here mean, but some of them I am lost? I just though maybe it would be a good idea to have a thread that listed the commonly used ones or so the next new guy who doesn't understand one can search for "acronym" or whatever acronym he is trying to find and this could pop up rather then a bunch of other posts where somebody was using it without saying what it is. If you think of any others that are used I think it would be pretty helpful for the future members to list them.

Just off the top of my head I can think of (again, though some are pretty easy to figure out):

OC - open carry
CC - conceal carry
VCDL - Virginia Citizen Defense League
LEO - law enforcement officer
OCDO - open carry dot org
Unicorn sightings- Spotting someone else OCing in town. (not an acronym, I know but a useful thing to know)

Two I have seen that I have no clue-
IANAL ??
YMMV ??

Actually CHP is the only correct acronym to describe that little Va. permission slip.

There's another acronym that took me a LONG time to figure out that nobody has touched on yet:

FUD

which stands for "Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt", a type of disinformation put out as propaganda, often used by "authorities" to push their own personal agendas when they are no in line with the law...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear,_uncertainty_and_doubt

FUD is a common tactic used by the media, the government, power-hungry LEOs and anti's. Don't fall for it. Know the law.

RAS: what an LEO must have regarding your connection to a crime, combined with reasonable suspicion that you are armed and presently dangerous, before he can search you for weapons for officer safety.
